  1. I always thought the Beatles "Taxman" guitar solo was pretty chaotic, at least for back then.
  2. I already have the original vinyl of most of these so think i will save that money at least. But those immersion editions are calling to me.
  3. Previous band from the Bass player and guitar player from Band of Horses. Paid $0.01 for it. NP:
  4. Low covers Toto Low doing "Africa" by Toto Which reminds me of Patton Oswald's line: "The loneliest place in the world is the frozen foods section at the supermarket with Toto's Africa playing".
  5. Who am I kidding, I have never heard more than a handful of songs by any of these bands. Not really enough to make any kind of opinion. Of the few songs I have heard, I have enjoyed the Jesus Lizard the most. There, I feel better.
  6. Definitely Jesus Lizard, I don't like any of the other bands on the list.
  7. There's always Charlie Parker.
  8. Were they recording in there? Chords everywhere, an amp being mic'd.
  9. The Onion has a list of "13 Beastie Boys references explained". I have learned.
  10. There does seem to be some sort of advantage putting Deer in the name of your band. I though about adding The Antlers and Caribou to this list but thought that was getting out of hand. I'm a little surprised by the Deerhoof love here. I like them but damn, Halcyon Digest was so damn good.
  11. Well it was kind of slow around here so thought we needed a poll. I'm going with Deerhunter, love that band although I do like the others.
  12. Streaming at NPR: Book of Mormon
  13. I was actually just surprised Glen Campbell did a Replacements song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AddX3jVQV3U And his new album has songs by Paul Westerberg, Jakob Dylan, Teddy Thompson and Robert Pollard, with help from Roger Manning (Jellyfish).
  14. Looks like no CAPO in this vid. Def some 7th chords? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq6tOHcH4pI&feature=related
  15. All you guys out there tryin' to act like Al Green All you guys out there tryin' to act like Al Green, you're all weak Cause when you've finally submitted to embarrassing capture All you guys out there gonna wish you were Al Green Low - Witches
  16. My brother stopped listening to new stuff sometime in the early 90's but other than that we have always liked the same stuff.
  17. Well, only 1 spin through and nothing like Bye Bye Love jumped out but it's definitely the Cars. Need to try at least another spin.
  18. I'm back in the 80's! Streaming at: Cars new album
  19. Me too, top of my list right now and the one I keep going back for another listen. I'm sure that has turned quite a few people off but i find the style fits the songs and subject matter perfectly. Kind of haunting in a different way.
  20. Our band is actually doing that song and just played it last night. That is a fun noodle song. Just sit there and play around in E Major.
  21. Loving this album. Some great visuals in this new video: All and everyone video
