I actually agree with everything you are saying. I just find advertising so annoying and pervasive I hate to see good music being sucked into the vortex.

Black Mountain - Wilderness Heart

Yep. Cryptique might as well be speaking for me as well.

To be honest, I would rather a commercial use Kesha because that music means nothing to me and it seems to have been written to sell product anyways, and I got a mute button. Yes, I'm naive to think that Art can still mean something. Yes I know art is subjective and one man's Kesha is another man's Beatles. I know that these days all publicity and exposure is good and it's all about the all mighty dollar. I don't care about any of that. All I know is I would give anything to be able to write a song like that Dawes song. If I was a struggling artist wanting to make music for a living an

[photos/review] The Joy Formidable
Moss replied to tinnitus photography's topic in Someone Else's Song
Great pics and review! I am so glad to hear they live up to what I heard on the album, now I really want to go see these guys. She makes a hell of a racket with that guitar. -
I remember when movie theatres started playing commercials, many people would start booing. Now it's just part of the movie going experience. Same thing with this, it will and has become so common that these threads will go away. I don't blame the artists for trying to make a living, especially with all the pirating going on. But it still cheapens the songs for me in some small way and probably always will.

Yeah, that's kind of a big Calaveras county frog leap of a statement.
-
I saw them in Seattle several years ago, I think my ears are still ringing. They were amazing.

He sure didn't hold back lyrically though.

And real Indian Rosewood, not bad at all.

I have no problem with them doing it whatsover. But hearing a song in a commercial always cheapens it for me just a little bit, I'm not even sure why. It's not the sell out aspect or anything. Now when I hear that song am I going to instantly start thinking of a Chevy truck going through rugged terrain?

I'm pretty excited about the new Kings re-issues coming out!

I can't believe it, I just heard the Dawes Chevy commercial for the first time tonight. Good for them but it always kind of bums me out.

^^ That is a beaut! Congats.

So far I still like There is nothing left to lose better but I'm only a few times through the new one. It is better than anything that came after that one though.

I would be very interested in seeing those pictures!

What comes first, depression in teens or emo music?
Moss replied to Doug C's topic in Someone Else's Song
I can safely say I found solace in music as a depressed teen. But I also know Nickelback causes me to be depressed. -
Or you could take his stick away.

I think Paul was the only one that had been keeping the band together for a few years by that point. As far as Yoko, I have never heard a song by her that I wanted to hear again really but certainly have not dug deep into the oeuvre.

I wouldn't say you should never use paper spray on a kid. But in this case the officer obviously over reacted (as they have been known to do). Seriously? You can't disarm an 8 year old with a stick? Call the school bully over, he could do it.

Not to mention, with 2 cats in the house I can't have anything too nice. Or at least the speakers need to be cat proof.
-
I have never really needed much space. I just let it randomly load songs from my library and let it random play, that's my favorite part is the surprise factor. Once the battery runs low I plug it in and let it randomly load again while it's charging. So I am pretty happy with the 8 gigs or whatever it has. On another note, I really wish someone would come out with a player that supports MP3, FLAC, APE, MP4, etc...all at the same time!

New Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit album due April 12
Moss replied to cryptique's topic in Someone Else's Song
Apparently the deluxe vinyl version of the album has a 7" that includes a cover of GBV's Everywhere with helicopter. That's tipped me in the vinyl direction for sure.
