So excited to dig into this one.

Forgot how much I like this.

That Iommi shot really is money.

I absolutely love that first Robertson album but I was less impressed with the follow ups so not really getting my hopes up for this one. Especially since I heard it's more along the lines of the Redboy album. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Really? No more Capn Crunch? Many is the morning I scoffed 2 big bowls and ran out to play with the roof of my mouth and gums bleeding. capn crunch sails into obscurity

Techniques that people have complimented you on

Pics for the Vile show? I hate when musicians use open tunings, makes it so damn hard to figure out how to play them. Westerberg and Malkmus never seem to play in any kind of standard tuning. -
Alice in Chains bassist dies: Mike Starr RIP I guess the Dr. Drew rehab didn't take.

I have done a few things over the years that people have asked about although far from groundbreaking. 1. When doing a quick strumming type of thing (think Dirty Pool by SRV), turning the pick so that you are using the shorter rounded edge works like a charm. Really makes the pick glide over the strings. 2. I like playing around with harmonics quite a bit. Either fretting a note and hammering 12 frets above it (like EVH) or fretting a chord and creating harmonics by putting the right hand index on the string and picking the note with the right hand thumb. Most people know about these -
Finally, the next book in the series is coming out July 12th. It's been a long wait.

Wow, who knew Laminated Nap was a toady for the man!

Another announcement, Big Star: I really want that Big Star test pressing. Big star announcement

I absolutely agree with this and I really don't have much interest in reading this book. I have to say though, blame it on drugs or whatever (there had to be more than alcohol going on there) but Eddie has come across as a real douche as well over the years. I wonder if Wolfie will be writing a book in 10 years or so.

I had to give this one quite a few listens and I really do like it. But I liked Accelerate as well. It's so hard not to carry the baggage of those great early albums. I love those albums so much that even something like Automatic for the people really does not compare for me. But trying to be subjective as possible, I do really like this album. Some absolutely great songs, some OK songs. The album seems to lose a little momentum towards the end. But overall a good album from a great band.

I will also give a shout out for that Kurt Vile. Been listening to that one a bunch. NP: The Joy Formidable - The Big Roar Very impressive so far, they make a big noise. Kind of Besnard Lakes-ish.

Excerpts from Sammy Hagar's book. Sounds like Eddie is a pretty screwed up individual: Sammy Hagar book excerpts

Truckers will be on Conan tomorrow night (3/8/11)

Now that is a great choice! From the same song: I'll pick you up late at night after work I said lady, step into my Hyundai I'm going to take you up to Glendale, yeah I'm gonna take you for a real good meal That falsetto with the music and those lyrics just work so well.

The article I read in MOJO said it was rumored he has signed a new six book deal with Simon and Schuster which will include 2 sequels to Chronicles. It said volume 2 is supposedly centering on Blonde on Blonde and another collection based on his radio show. But as the article said, Dylan wasn't elaborating. I would prefer Blood on the Tracks also.
-
So I heard 2 different things about the next volume of Chronicles. One article said it was going to be about the Blonde on Blonde sessions and one said it was about the Blood on the Tracks sessions. Anybody hear anything definitive?

For some reason the new Kurt Vile (which I love) reminds me of Tommy Bolin. Maybe it's just the vocals, I don't know. Made me want to pull this one out anyways.

That is a nice looking acoustic, can't go wrong with a good Martin. Enjoy!

Now that is a going away present! Did they sign their names all over it?

Looks like this is finally going forward. I'm tempted to enter but you can only do it by Fax, phone, or mail? I can't see myself putting all my credit card info on a form and faxing it somewhere. And yet I will put it on just about any website to buy stuff. Maybe i'll do it by phone. Looks like they are giving away 5 good prizes, not just the car. I can't imagine there will be a ton of entries so it seems like the odds would be fairly decent. First drawing is on 3/14/11.

I liked his lack of ass-kissery. All hosts should have that.
