Yep, I saw that. Got all excited and made the family listen while I cranked it. They played a pretty good chunk of it too. Off topic but I can't decide if Cutty is good looking or not on that show.

It's streaming here if you want a sneak preview: Low Anthem

Yeah, I'm going to avoid the anti-Grammy rant but it amazes me the amount of legitimacy they still seem to have in people's minds. I used to like to watch them back when it was tough to see good live video of bands but now with youtube and everything, what possible reason is there to watch them? Endless shots of Eminem grimacing and Lady Gaga trying to look mysterious and edgy. Oops, rant started...sorry.

Lately I have been using these on my electrics just because I got a really good deal on them. I was using the Ernie Ball for awhile but it seemed like they kept breaking on me, I do tend to play pretty hard. I may go back to Ernie Ball though. I like the John Pearse for acoustics, usually those or the Martin strings is what I get.

Not that I am aware. However, apparently the late Mark Linkous did play keyboards on the album (maybe just one song) and had influence on some of the songs. In fact it's dedicated to him as well.

They had me at clear vinyl. Not sure why but that actually appeals to me in some way.

Hey cool! Sorry I missed you there. Yeah, I don't really bring any Grateful Dead baggage to the show. Like you said, great musicians, great songs, great sound, loved every second of it. Not a bad venue overall, I had never been to the first bank center before.

Guess who this is (aka, suddenly, I feel old

Yes! Best answer yet.

Whoa, where does one find something like that?

I'm pretty much a Grateful Dead newbie so I wouldn't really be able to compare it well to great shows from the past or anything. To my ears they sounded amazing, vocals seemed spot on, I thought the musicianship seemed really tight. Plus they played some of my fave stuff like Loser and Brown eyed woman. The Help-->slipknot--> Franklin's tower was pretty mesmerizing. You could see them taking chances, signaling each other, they seemed to be into it and enjoying it. I don't know, are people complaining about Further shows?

Further show was amazing last night, now I wish I had tickets for the next 2 nights. I: Jam > Jack Straw, Me and My Uncle, Loser, Big River, It Must Have Been the Roses, Deal, Black-Throated Wind, Brown-Eyed Women II: Weather Report Suite Prelude/Part 1 > Let It Grow, The Mountain Song > I Know You Rider > Dark Star > China Doll, Playin in the Band > Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower Encore: Liberty (Dedicated to Egypt)

Thanks Crow, I'm going to check those out. I'm always on the look out for good fantasy books (just added to my amazon wishlist). Too many fantasy books are the "naive pig farmer grows up to be the one true wielder of the (insert ring, sword, talisman, whatever here) and proceeds to defeat the dark lord". The Game of Thrones books are more like reading about ancient Rome or something. Certainly fantasy elements but much more about political intrigue and what people will do to obtain power.

They were (maybe still are) streaming the new Gregg Solo album on NPR and I just was not impressed. It's not that it was bad but it just kind of felt no different from Rod Steward doing his songbook stuff, except this case they are old blues standards. I guess I just didn't see him really adding anything new to the songs that you couldn't get from the originals. Even his voice didn't really sound as bluesy as in the past to me. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, I think it's getting decent reviews.

Maybe it was the over saturation (pretty sure my dad played this repeatedly) but now the song American Pie is pretty much 7 minutes of hell for me.
-
C'mon, give it a chance! Seriously, I can guarantee there will be no Hobbits frolicking on a bed or anything.

Make sure and throw "Feeling stronger every day" and "Wishing you were here" on there... wait what?

Hey PopTodd, did you see that this came out on Tuesday? Only $30 (or am I off base on your possible interest?): Bonzo link

Why is there such disappointment over Wilco(The Album)?

They could have done a whole Leather and Lace thing. -
Nice, I got my daughter one of the Body Talk albums, can't remember which one and she loves it. Not often I can influence their musical tastes. Actually I was not influencing, just sounded like some poppy, dancy, electronic stuff that she would like so I took a shot. I will send her the link. OK, back on topic. Welcome Deb!

I just wanted to say, I really enjoy your pictures and reviews and would be glad to even check out the Robyn stuff. Don't hold back on my account.

The Sopranos thread reminded me that HBO has a new series coming out in April called Game of Thrones based on the George R. R. Martin Song of Ice and Fire series. If you have not read these, I can't recommend them highly enough. Not your standard fantasy shlock at all. Complex characters, complex plot, well written, great stuff. Judging by the trailer, it appears they are doing this one right. Any fans? Game of Thrones preview

Wow, that actually looks like a pretty interesting analysis, I hope to give it the time it deserves when I have more time. That is one thing that amazed me about the show. No matter all the evil things Tony did, a part of me always rooted for him. Strange. I miss that show...and the wire.

A good sign that their priorities are in order.
