  1. Ha! I used to do that. Now I've got a dual-alarm system, but I haven't figured out yet out to program the secondary alarm. Oh, but when I do... sweet sweet sleep. I may never make it into work again.
  2. I'll hit the snooze button for however many times it takes to get to half an hour past when the alarm first started going off, without ever knowing it. I used to snooze for hours at a time, but the clock I have now shuts the alarm off after an hour of snoozing, so I'm managing to get up within that hour. If I have to be up early (I often have to get very early flights for work, meaning I need to be up by 4-4:30ish), I pretty much don't sleep at all. I wake up dozens of times during the night, afraid that I've slept through the alarm.

This one looks better: http://wilcoworld.net/signup.html There's a link to that on the bottom left of the wilcoworld front page: http://wilcoworld.net/
  4. OK, thanks. Even though I knew this was going on (meaning, the festival), the contemporary incarnation really truly was never on my radar. When I hear "Newport Folk Festival", I think Joan Baez and Bob Dylan.

    Thanks guys! Yes, definitely intrigued...
  6. I didn't know it had ever been sponsored before, it's not generally on my radar. I just thought it sounded sort of off. And I like Dunkin' Donuts! (We don't have 'em out here. )
  7. Wow, I can't believe that was three years ago. I was new-ish to VC at the time, and so proud to be part of a group that would collectively sign on to something like that. You guys did good work.

Keep watching the Shows page on wilcoworld: http://wilcoworld.net/tours/index.php That'll be updated with info, including when pre-sales will start. When those are announced, there's usually also a link to sign up for the super-secret password to get in on those. And it'll more than likely be discussed here, so just keep checking back. OK, and I just found this http://wilcoworld.net/mailinglist/index.php?action=subscribe but I don't know if that's the official sign-up dealie. I don't think that's how I signed up for the e-mails... Question for friends and neighbors of the Count
  9. According to Jay: Jeff woke her up, talked to her, stroked her hair. No groping, nothing approaching rape. I'm not saying it's not a creepy thing to do to your friend's girlfriend, but let's not exaggerate what actually happened.
  10. Thanks, but not necessary. Just trying to keep a lid on things by blowing off a little steam myself.
  11. And, we're done. If anyone wants to start a new thread about the book, or about the breakup of UT, or about any of the other crap that happened in this thread, have at it. But this one is being closed, and I'm calling in the EPA to declare it a Superfund site. edit: OK, apparently some people feel that you all can be trusted to not get any pissier than you already have. I'm re-opening this, but the entire thread is on probation!!!
  12. I forgot to answer that one! I couldn't have, but then I imdb'ed it. Also, I posted that because my cousin Denise is in one of the crowd shots. She was about 11 at the time.
  13. The Pitchfork article contains this line which, if you read the full quote above, is not true. I think there is a huge difference between waking her up and talking to her and then stroking her hair, and just stroking her hair while she was asleep.
  14. From an interview with Jay Farrar in Relix magazine, reprinted in Glorious Noise:
  15. Grammar: 100% Punctuation: 100% Vocabulary: 100% Spelling: 80% Spelling! What the hell? I was always the spelling bee queen (spelling queen bee?) in school.

  17. The first time I was in DC, I did one of these tours, and I really liked it. Touristy, yeah, but big bang for the buck if you're only there a few hours.
  18. I'm not familiar with it, but I love your telling of it in relation to this. A few years ago I saw Neko, Kelly, and Carolyn Mark, and that show is on my list of things to do over again, when I get my time machine up and running. :wub
  19. Good stuff. A few years ago, one of the very cool old theaters here showed all of these over the course of three weeks (two a night, for three or four nights each). A bit overwhelming, but mesmerizing.
  20. D'oh! Ah well, all this will still work for the next trip.
