I'm bumping this to rile up some interest in this.

I've already sent a PM to dcd about this, but VC will be adding a calendar to our zazzle store. Not Wilco-themed, but we've got plenty of talented photographers around here who take beautiful shots of everything under the sun, and we're hoping to show them off. Check out the thread in TTL for details.

Link to buy calendars: http://www.zazzle.com/viachicagostore* After seeing a great suggestion from dixiecupdrinker in this thread, Brianne and I have kicked around some ideas (we've given ourselves all of 30 minutes to flesh out this idea, so it may evolve as we get replies in this thread ) for a VC calendar for 2010. As previously stated in the t-shirts/other merch thread, we don't want to be in the business of competing with Wilco for any merchandise sales. So, even though they're not putting out a calendar this year, we're still going to play it safe and just go with a calendar that

This sounds like an Adam Sandler Movie

Just to be perfectly clear, I don't have any problem with her making that kind of money. But I can sort of see how, if you were a struggling actress, it would be frustrating to see someone who could be working for free in tiny theater productions and still living comfortably, raking it in on the best job on TV for all those years. -

Yeah, the candy on the street thing bothered me, too. First of all, how much candy are they finding on the street? And second, who buys candy from those two creepy brothers who live in a cave? It just doesn't seem like a good business plan to me. Totally unrelated, but I heard this recently and couldn't believe it. I'd heard before that Julia Louis-Dreyfus came from a wealthy family, but apparently her father's family's net worth is $2.9 billion. Apparently that fact pisses off quite a few working (and non-working) actresses who begrudge her all that Seinfeld money. -
She & Him is only my second-favorite thing that Zooey's ever done, after Elf.

I've only read the New York Trilogy, but I loved loved loved those.

I know, I know! I'll give it a go one of these days, I promise. I also need to catch up on my Nick Hornbys. And I've read some really nice reviews of George Carlin's last book, Last Words, sort of an autobiography-as-dictated-to-Tony Hendra.

Just finished this: Next up: and

Happy day, Matt!

You'll probably have to say a few words and sign something later on. Happy day, and best wishes for a long and happy life together.

This one's just a place-holder until I can find Xmas Gogo. edit:

“It’s more fun talking politics with people who agree with you”

Wrong thread!!! OK, I'll let that go for now. See how benevolent I can be? Now everyone, take a deep breath, try to post constructively, don't react to other people's baiting, think happy thoughts, be thankful, etc., etc. -

Seriously, B. IRDB, if your ass isn't thankful for something in the next five minutes, brace yourself for my wrath. Looks like Tweedling and GON aren't even logged in anymore. Cowards. Ms. Racer: -

OMG, she totally did that on Gossip Girl last week, too!!! From now until tomorrow morning, everyone who posts in this thread is also required to post (and it's got to be sincere, don't be snarky ) in the Giving Thanks thread. Let's try to head into Thanksgiving on a more peaceful note. -
Dude, that's harsh! He's got Operation Panda going on, he's going to come back a lean, mean, fighting machine!

This is a minor example, in some ways, but it's also an interesting glimpse into the way some administrations think: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_Information_Act_(United_States)#President_Reagan.27s_Executive_Order_limiting_the_FOIA Reagan limited the public's access to certain records under FOIA. When Clinton took office, he repealed many of those limitations on access. After 9/11, Bush issued an executive order restricting access to the records of former presidents; Obama rescinded that order on his first day in office. So in terms of the freedom of the public, and the me -
And I'm thankful to B for not letting my thread die like... well, like a turkey on Thanksgiving, unfortunately. I'm also jealous of quite a few of B's thankfuls, but that's not really in the proper spirit, is it?

This year, as every year, I am primarily thankful for my family. My parents are (relatively) healthy, I actually like my siblings (I know not everyone feels this way about their family!), and my nieces and nephew continue to be my favorite people in the world. But I’m also thankful for Berkeley Rep, the Magic Theatre, and ACT. I’m thankful for Sketchfest, lots of other live comedy, and assorted comedy podcasts that I’ve become addicted to over the past year. I’m thankful for Nellie McKay and Howard Fishman, M. Ward, Elvis Perkins, and Monsters Are Not Myths. I’m thankful for Irish Night

I definitely remember you! Hello, welcome back! Big congratulations on the baby! A few years ago, I went to an Arcade Fire show with a friend who was several days past her due date, and having contractions about an hour apart. So I think you might be OK. We'll all think happy scheduling thoughts for you.

Ha! I love your avatar.

Interesting. I'm reading the unrevised edition, which is subtitled "rediscovering the labyrinth as a spiritual tool". Hmmm.

My mother grew up in that same time frame, on a small farm in Meath. They didn't have much either, but her life was worlds away from the McCourts. Still, she can appreciate the way that the book is written. It doesn't have to be a unique story, certainly it's in the way it's told, isn't it? But then, she fucked off to America, so what does she know? Note: I'm not a huge fan of Angela's Ashes either, but for different reasons than yours seem to be.
