  1. yeah, i think son volt is not as good without the boquist brothers. gob iron was really cool though, a good break from the "new" less interesting son volt. in my opinion, of course.
  2. the solo record is great, but lifted is just too bright-eyes for me. the record reminds me of harry potter for some reason, i dunno why.
  3. nothing beats trace. nothing.
  4. you can comment about how its very plainspoken. the singer and narrator are one in the same. oooooh shit. symbolism.
  5. i know, right? me and my friends were singing it for days afterwards though
  6. yeah, id say the whole jayhawks discography is required listening. after all, rolling stone does consider them one of the 100 most influential bands (or something like that.) but yeah. im totally going to this festival. jayhawks, black crowes, counting crows and the fucking hold steady. what more value do you need? i bet theres gonna be tons of local acts too. anything that comes out of minneapolis rules. (even prince) also, tim o reagans album rules. i dont think this has ever been discussed here. one of my favorites.
  7. dude, what about jeff "skunk" baxter. theres some great playing all over the early steely dan records.
  8. i heard "cough up the bucks" live, and everyone hated it. neil young doesnt give a fuck what anyone thinks.
  9. jeff doesnt have the lr baggs on the j45. he used to have this big black one, but he switched to a different non-magnetic kind.
  10. ive thought of this a lot. when sky blue sky came out, i was sure it was gonna be their last record. i dunno, i just had a feeling. then this new one came out. i heard some songs live, and i think theyre pretty cool. it seems like everyone is scared its gonna suck, and wilco will lose some pitchfork cred. if so, who cares. every band has some eh records. look at dylan and the band. they had their comeback records in the 70s (blood on the tracks, northern lights southern cross) after some mediocre efforts (dylan, cahoots.) just gotta stick with artists. if you like em enough,
  11. the thrills first record has some cool pedal steel
  12. no sense in lovin - tupelo cold roses had some great playing on it too, cindy cashdollar ripped it up all over that record. also, old hat from the new ben kweller
  13. the kid with the red pants was the man. and the kid with the "recycling" shirt on.
  14. i was at this show, it was awesome.
  15. this is cool, but they wont have it at MY record store. guarantee it.
  16. thats my favorite part of any wilco song. that and the ending part. lately, i like it when katy perry says "clothes." im serious. listen to it.
  17. once again, i turn to solid state technology for some sound advice. i wanna turn my acoustic into an acoustic electric. what pickups are the best? (sound, value, ease of installation, etc.) i dont want one of those pickups that has the cable attatched to it, i have one now and its annoying. but yeah, i was looking at the lr baggs, the one jeff uses.
  18. this show is gonna be really awesome. i hope glenn comes out and they do laminated cat
  19. HAHAHAHAH biggest wtf moment of the season so far.
  20. im going to see them next month, its gonna rule. tennessee is still my favorite
