hey all.. im sure many of you who browse this part of the forum are guitar players, so i figured id throw a question out there. i know "tone" is a personal taste thing, but knowing is half the battle i suppose. anywho, i recently got a peavey classic 30, which im starting to get some good sounds out of. however, i want my tone to be really "warm." you know, that sorta overdrivey sound that sparkles but has that brownish color to it almost. what do you guys use to get the sounds you like? any suggestions for me?

wow, i was laughing so hard that it said zwan! in your profile i didnt realize what you said. sure, george lopez sucks, as does carlos mencia (had to do it.) but really, if you dont like how i met your mother, you must have a very "unique" sense of humor. either that or it doesnt appeal to your age group (way more likely.)

that season had good music. jayhawks, replacements, and wilco. such a good show.

a singers voice matters, but not that much. if people didnt worry about it so often, the world would have more singers. amateurism is being lost in our society. if you sing, its just as legit as any "american idol," you know? theres too many "experts" and people have the mentality that theyll never be as good, so why bother. i dunno, just a pet peeve that always bothered me. i watched i am trying to break your heart the other day (cause of this thread.) i love jays sg, that thing is so badass. -
what do you guys think will be on the dvd? i hope one by one is on there. i love it when they do that. i hope theres lots of lap steel moments.

i like his solo stuff. so his voice sounds a little tom waits/sad bruce springsteen-ish. who cares, the guys a genius. people seem to focus on someones voice a lot, i think its not that important. -

first of all, jay bennetts new album does NOT suck. but yeah. if you listen to the yankee hotel foxtrot demos, you can hear jay holding on to that retro-aesthetic that just didnt fit the songs anymore. i love jay bennetts solo stuff and what he brought to the table, but wilco are great without him. theres no point trying to imagine it. -
thats an awesome concert story, haha.. im going to see oasis tonight. i saw wilco/neil on the 15th... kinda jealous of the wilco set you guys got.
-
so phish and the boss are supposedly headlining.. do you guys think wilco are playing? i would go if they were. in my opinion, 250 is worth it for three days... i just wish i knew more of the lineup. any word on other acts that might be playing?
-
well, weezer and wilco are in a different ballpark. weezer was all about pop from the start.. wilco had that pop sensibility, but they never got too mersh. maybe on a song or two here and there. weezer was meant to sell out in my opinion. how could they ever have topped the blue album?
-
its gonna be whatever they do. i bet its gonna be more songy than other wilco records, and it might get some bad reception at first. (pitchfork) i feel it might be like dylan after john wesley harding or something. like that shaky period in the 70s before blood on the tracks. ..but itll have awesome songs on it. i have a feeling one true vine is gonna be on it. personally, id be happy with anything jeff tweedy did. the guys an artist.

i cant fucking wait.

were awesome. wilco sounded great, and then neil just rocked. he covered a day in the life, which was awesome. at the end, all the strings broke on his guitar and it was just feeding back like crazy. beer cost 8 bucks.
-
this is awesome. i wish more people felt that way.

try rewriting everything. take old ideas and make them all new and cool. im doing that right now actually. going through my old notebooks and such. listen to yourself in the car, if you can record. its pretty cool.
