  1. there were some aluminum bleachers to the right of the sound desk, and a little back.
  2. TV21 is a severely underrated band. nice to see Bird Nest Roys there too!
  3. Straitjacket Fits blew away The La's when i saw them...i wasn't 100% sure they opened that show, but the magic of the internet confirmed it. http://thimble.pairserver.com/fits/fitsmeltpress91.html
  4. yeah i will be there again. btw, here's my full review of day 1: http://bigtakeover.com/concerts/boston-calling-spring-2015-day-1-with-beck-tame-impala-sharon-van-etten-boston-city-plaza-friday-may-22-2015 yesterday's bands did nothing for me until St Vincent got on (thought Run The Jewels was pretty good, all their songs sounded the same) but at least they made for arresting photography subjects. i am in love with Annie Clark, however. good goddamn can she shred and look amazing while doing it.
  5. do other festivals have reclining chairs? it's not that horrible, and you can find a bench or step to sit on if gravity is becoming too much. despite the fact that a giant concrete monolith is a few hundred feet from the stage, the sound is actually pretty good (though the wind fucked around w/ it this weekend so far). SVE's set was good, Tame Impala a let down, Beck very good. yesterday the 1st 5-6 bands sucked aside from RTJ, and St Vincent was amazing. Harper was decent, and MMJ was good but played too much of the new one for me.
  6. high strung little fuckers. i like them a lot more than shelties.
  7. at least on the way back, i found a workaround to get free WiFi. didn't have time for Bayless Frontera food, and got shitty Chinese food instead. what kind of dog is it? our neighbors have had a series of Shetland Sheepdogs ever since we moved in almost 20 years ago, and i have zero idea how the fuck they put up w/ the non-stop barking. that shit would have me up a wall and driving to the euthanization store in a week.
  8. attn Boston area peeps, keep June 10th open: Join Smuttynose Brewing Co. and Lagunitas Brewing Co on The Sinclair roof deck celebrating the return of Wilco's Solid Sound Festival for beer, tunes and tacos. Smuttynose will be pouring Finestkind IPA and Vunderbar Pils. Lagunitas will have IPA and Lil' Sumpin Sumpin on hand. We'll be playing tunes from bands performing at this year's festival. Entry is free. Beer and ta

  10. Tar Les Paul Worries On A Transfer Deep Throw Building Taj Mahal Muncie
  11. no, but Beck's rather particular about photos i think (none of the press shooters could shoot his Newport Folk show from the pit, only production). and his PR firm (Nasty Little Man) is well known for artists having difficult releases (Foo Fighters, Jack White, etc).
  12. i didn't get approved to shoot Beck, though. edit - my last ditch plea to the publicist has apparently succeeded!
  13. Sharon Van Etten, Tame Impala and Beck.
  14. news leaked that he's been rehearsing "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict"
  15. they built upon the two dissonant guitar template of Sonic Youth but are not derivative in any way. try this one out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uZyEZ9vCUo

  18. drag city is very good about re-pressing LPs so i wouldn't worry too much about finding a copy.
  19. i was always told that the equator was the hottest part of the earth, so i imagined a band of fire encircling the globe. i wasn't quite sure how that worked on the ocean, but i knew it did somehow.
