  1. it's been 12 years since Electric Wizard last toured the US, but it was worth it. holy fuck was that awesome. if anyone gives a shit i will post some photos and a review later.
  2. we read what we want to read. both sides. http://www.newyorker.com/news/amy-davidson/on-iran-obama-gets-his-breakthrough “Iran is not going to simply dismantle its program because we demand it to do so,” the President said. “That’s not how the world works. And that’s not what history shows us.”
  3. i like the Newport Folk Fest method... there's a place for blankets and chairs, but it ain't in front of the stage.
  4. the 1st side of _Boxer_ is so good, though.
  5. i'm *really* hoping for a chair/blanket free zone in front of the stage.
  6. i'd be surprised if a canceled show doesn't refund the LN fee. very surprised. if you want to trade pre-ticket buying stress (for how many days of the year, two or three?) for the stress i regularly go through during the process of concert photography, i'm game for a Freaky Friday swap for a week. i'll even let you keep all that lucrative windfall.
  7. What does the price of a ticket matter? Or is it that you are not getting a refund?
  8. thank the FSM that you're not a fan of All Tomorrow's Parties, which have canceled at least three festivals at the last minute. it's one goddamned show and you're getting your $ back. suck it up, princess. last i checked, Chicago isn't too far away.
  9. no i haven't but i have friday off... may make a visit.
  10. this is hardly restricted to craft beer/liquor stores.... restaurants, record stores, wine shops...most retail shops will identify their best customers and figure out ways to keep them. the good news is that there are a ton of great beers out there, so if you can't taste one particular beer, big deal. i hope you're not a GBV fan; the recent Dogfish Head Beer Thousand with 10" record distribution debacle may have sent you over the edge.
  11. this beer came out after Pike got out of rehab.
  12. this thread rules. i may not see eye to eye w/ Hixter on political issues, but i would definitely have a beer w/ him.
  13. i thought that Two Hearted was overrated. would like to try some Three Floyds stuff at some point.
  14. Lol http://gawker.com/indiana-pizzeria-takes-brave-stand-of-denying-gays-pizz-1694992744
  15. Jealous of you west coasters with access to Deschutes. Sierra Nevada Torpedo is great too. For local IPAs, Slumbrew's Flagraiser is a great one. And Smuttynose is unfairly taken for granted.
  16. i don't think it is, but you never know.
  17. any gay people wanting to cater their wedding w/ pizzas is gonna have to look elsewhere: http://www.abc57.com/story/28681598/rfra-first-business-to-publicly-deny-same-sex-service but they can eat it in the store:
  18. unless the weather plays havoc. on the 2nd one, the wind and rain kinda messed w/ the sound a bit, nothing you can do about that.... the hazards of an open air PA.
  19. dredging up 3 weeks' of memory, the Pliny was a lot drier whereas the Deschutes seemed to have a much rounder, fuller profile. bah, it's hard to describe what things taste like.
  20. hey, there's always Ted Nugent, Charlie Daniels, and Kid Rock.
  21. you'll have to wait for the new issue of The Big Takeover to come out, probably late April or so. i'll have some live shots though. they were super friendly. i recognized one of the touring members as a guy who also played w/ Teenage Fanclub when i did a shoot w/ them a while back (Dave something or other). Stuart also took my request of Fox In The Snow and played it.
