  1. well that was when Pete was playing acoustic, and they had people like Billy Idol playing parts (i think he was the bell boy). my wife went to that, as well as to the recent one...it was pretty clear which she preferred.
  2. I've only see Bruce once, at one of the final shows at Giants Stadium. Yeah, he's got a more than competent band and plenty of energy, but much like my criticism of Dave Grohl, he panders to his audience way too much. Pete's lost a lot of his stage presence, Roger gamely makes an effort, but for me the clear balance tipper was that they played Quadrophenia. it was incredible. Mr Heartbreak, I only got to see two songs of McCartney's show at Fenway a couple of years ago but all reports I've heard from friends who have seen him were positive.
  3. RS's list wasn't the work of one writer. but you did get one thing right. my opinion is definitely better than the collective of RS. i'm just really pissed that Hoobastank didn't make it.
  4. so you have no opinion? seems hard to believe. c'mon, this forum was made for sharing ideas and thoughts. it'll be fun!
  5. The Cure are definitely still a great live band. Check out this set list from earlier this year in Mexico City: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-cure/2013/foro-sol-mexico-city-mexico-13d83549.html 50 songs!! Just encore #4 could have been a regular set for a lot of bands.
  6. Comparison with Rolling Stone.....yeah, that makes sense. Better yet, let's dispense with the collective "we" and just compare the "you." I'll show you mine if you show me yours, ten at a time. Game, Jules?
  7. The Who had the decided advantage of playing better material.
  8. The Who show I saw last year blew Springsteen away. Nope, just Neil and Iggy in my top 50.
  9. Terrible and predictable list. Tom Waits is the safe critics pick and he tours about as often as new popes get picked. One (1!) metal band and it's Metallica. The only two dinosaur acts that belong in the top 50 are Neil and Iggy. Give me a fucking break.
  10. if the publicist had let me know in time, i would have seen New Order tonight.
  11. damn that's a freaking ripoff...$40 for parking. parking is always cheaper at The Paradise...except for that one time I parked unknowingly in a tow zone in Brookline. got out of the Wild Flag show only to find a tow truck moving one car, and mine was already gone. that was fun...$40 cab ride to Brookline PD, waited at least an hour for the paper work to come through, then another $60 cab ride to Watertown to get my car. why the hell can't Brookline just use a Brighton or Brookline tow service? i got home about 3AM.
  12. Last year was my first time at Fort Adams, and I only took in Friday and Saturday (and Friday only had Wilco, Blitzen Trapper and Megafaun), so this was a much larger dose. good times, and my cameras survived Friday's rain. http://www.gigwise.com/photos/83256/25-exclusive-photos-from-the-newport-folk-festival some photos not included in that slideshow:
  13. Is that standard parking or some VIP bullshit? btw, Melvins ruled last night. one band that never gets old for me.
  14. how could they possibly lose artistic credibility with that article? if anything, they would gain it by taking control of their business and not being beholden to others.
  15. in retrospect i kinda regret missing this show, but couldn't find anyone to go with...was traffic a nightmare because of Bon Jovi playing at Foxboro that night?
  16. aye, sporadically. sometimes just hitting refresh works, other times it doesn't
  17. yeah that was a good read. interesting to hear of the band agreement and then how it fell apart. i guess Stirratt had to get bought of that original contract too?
  18. anyone else immediately think of this guy? hint
  19. yeah, it's OM and they did a show at the Temple of Dendur exhibit. rather awesome evening.
