  1. Outlived by Shane....I bet he didn't see that one coming.
  2. i am beginning to suspect that the judges weren't the issue here.
  3. i put haricot verts in my fire-roasted haberno and foie gras chili.
  4. sounds like something ordered in a crackhead bordello.
  5. Jamey Johnson was a bit of a snoozer for me too, so it's safe to say I am not the target audience for much of it.
  6. Sometimes it seems like my butt can stay in the stall forever. Given the right reading material.
  7. I love both X and Bill Callahan but am staying in tonight.
  8. According to setlist.fm he played two nights....pretty sure I saw this one http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/frank-zappa/1988/bushnell-center-for-the-performing-arts-hartford-ct-3bd0ecb0.html
  9. the only time I've been at the Bushnell was for Zappa's final tour in '88 (i think).
  10. review and photos, for those interested: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/the-flaming-lips-tame-impala-the-ghost-of-a-saber-/#photo-1
  11. they did it in a really slow manner, with mainly just Wayne warbling the words (his voice is kinda shot, isn't it?) until after a few pointless minutes, the rest of the band kicked in at a higher tempo and the saccharine/adrenaline rush of that song was finally recognized.
  12. what's not to hate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crCqWK3SmRo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUCnbXWK0EA
  13. Lennon's band was pretty good. Tame Impala started out really strong and then kinda fizzled into aimlessness...picked up towards the end. Flaming Lips had a pretty poor song selection (imo) coupled w/ Wayne's increasingly frantic attempts to get the crowd into it. hey, if you can't move a crowd, that's on you. and that version of "Race For The Prize" was really stupid. i do give him some credit for ditching the hamster ball. finally.
  14. the tour opener fell pretty short of what it could have been.
  15. it kinda sucks that our kids are gone for the week but i've got shows the next three nights
  16. true story - my wife and i left a show at the Roxy before the Flaming Lips played...it was the pre-Soft Bulletin tour w/ the quadro-phonic headphones they gave out to people. we dug Robyn Hitchcock's set, but Sebadoh was going poorly (Lou was pissy) and we bailed...stupid, i know!
  17. yeah it was the Roxy. the upstairs is hardly ever open. i know that when it was the Roxy, there were some fights or other disturbances that led the city to limit capacity. not sure if Royale is still under those restrictions. i've seen it full a few times...New Pornographers had the room jammed, as did Converge (and that bill was supposed to be The Sinclair but it wasn't ready in time...they easily sold 3x the number of tickets).
  18. wait...Netflix doesn't have the complete series? that sucks. my wife and i just started watching it from Season One on Friday.
