  1. this trotting out of superstars for cameo appearances is fuggin' lame.
  2. yeah, he had a pretty full band...occasional keyboard player, Steve Gunn came out for a few songs, and real honest to god bass was played on a few songs. fantastic show. had a bit of a meta-moment afterwards, when i was with Kurt Vile watching Kurt Vile on the Letterman show.
  3. he might be holding Pete's. Rick, that is....not prick or dick.
  4. or they could cover "Lake Somerset" from Deerhunter and completely skirt classic rock and roots.
  5. just dropped the $ on this as well...a friend, my wife and i are in. should be fun.
  6. It's not like wilco won't be playing another show the next day.
  7. i don't see it that way but i can see your point. personally i like when bands dig out some covers, esp oblique ones that make sense. the Freewheelin' Yo La Tengo tour was awesome, and a good example of how this format can really work well.
  8. i doubt it's gonna be all covers...that would be a bit strange. but i would think there will be a healthy mix, maybe half? either way, it'll be a lot of fun. i like how Wilco is coming up w/ different ideas to promote the festival this year.
  9. Hickman is a much different guitarist than Lisher is. different bass player, too and no violin, though typically everyone gets on stage at the end to crank through Careful w/ That Axe, Eugene. edit - just saw the above post...i actually prefer Greg's playing to Hickman's, which comes off as flash for flash's sake. Greg seems to really fit with the song more. i vastly prefer CVB to Cracker, but Cracker's got some good songs. thanks for the props. gotta finish looking at the photos tonight.
  10. yeah, he wanted to be in a band so he bought Cannibal Corpse.
  11. Immergluck and the drummer pull double duty as well.
  12. actually, i left as that one was getting underway. if i was 6'2" or so i would have hung out a bit longer. couldn't see shit.
  13. i did. i didn't stick around for the whole show (left after "Hunted Down" which I really wanted to hear, but the place was jammed and a good viewing spot was hard to come by when i left the photo pit). a couple of photos I worked on before i went to sleep last night. here's the set list (and kudos to them for changing it up a lot from show to show) and two of Mr Cornell
  14. hey free show by them at the Earth Day concert this saturday.
  15. it doesn't count as it's not on a stage or recording studio, but i thought this was funny to see:
  16. cool, thx. yeah, the Brookline store looks to be sold out of those.
  17. i saw them earlier this year but left after i was done shooting the 1st three so i could watch the Pats/Ravens game. that didn't turn out to be such a great idea in hindsight.
  18. Soundgarden tonight, Mudhoney last Friday.
  19. what did the label look like (ie, was there anything specifically different about it)? i was in the Brookline Booksmith last night and looked for some...saw some sea salt bars but there was nothing on the label to distinguish it as being SSF-related, and i didn't want to drop $10 on a candy bar that had no chance of winning. maybe i'll swing into Formaggio Kitchen later today.
