  2. She's a skinnier, less equine version of Sarah Jessica Parker.
  3. it's my favorite record of theirs. listening to it again right now.
  4. i always heard it as 'whoop' (studio) or 'wreck' (live).
  5. Night one of Maryland Deathfest. Bolt Thrower and Pallbearer are the highlights for me.
  6. These lists always try to be somewhat inclusive, and it just comes off really poorly. When was the last time Spin covered any jazz or experimental music? I am all for people like Corsano, Bennink or Baron getting some press, but ranking them where they landed is a fucking abomination. Yeah, Chad Smith or Sheila E or Mike Bordin are better. Fuck off, Spin.
  7. Alternative apparently includes Prince The Police Nirvana RHCP Alice In Chains James Brown Ohio Players The Clash Black Sabbath Chic Et al
  8. dammit, i kept meant to get down to Formaggio Kitchen...it's less than a mile from where I work.
  9. maybe it's a really nice phone that he's excited to use.
  10. this trotting out of superstars for cameo appearances is fuggin' lame.
  11. yeah, he had a pretty full band...occasional keyboard player, Steve Gunn came out for a few songs, and real honest to god bass was played on a few songs. fantastic show. had a bit of a meta-moment afterwards, when i was with Kurt Vile watching Kurt Vile on the Letterman show.
  12. he might be holding Pete's. Rick, that is....not prick or dick.
  13. or they could cover "Lake Somerset" from Deerhunter and completely skirt classic rock and roots.
  14. just dropped the $ on this as well...a friend, my wife and i are in. should be fun.
  15. It's not like wilco won't be playing another show the next day.
  16. i don't see it that way but i can see your point. personally i like when bands dig out some covers, esp oblique ones that make sense. the Freewheelin' Yo La Tengo tour was awesome, and a good example of how this format can really work well.
  17. i doubt it's gonna be all covers...that would be a bit strange. but i would think there will be a healthy mix, maybe half? either way, it'll be a lot of fun. i like how Wilco is coming up w/ different ideas to promote the festival this year.
  18. Hickman is a much different guitarist than Lisher is. different bass player, too and no violin, though typically everyone gets on stage at the end to crank through Careful w/ That Axe, Eugene. edit - just saw the above post...i actually prefer Greg's playing to Hickman's, which comes off as flash for flash's sake. Greg seems to really fit with the song more. i vastly prefer CVB to Cracker, but Cracker's got some good songs. thanks for the props. gotta finish looking at the photos tonight.
  19. yeah, he wanted to be in a band so he bought Cannibal Corpse.
