  6. Donald Roeser, Tony Iommi, Neil Young and Pete Townsend. That's all I'm gonna say.
  7. I can distinctly recall three watershed moments that proved as key entry points into music forms I'd previously ignored. 1 - Reading Byron Coley's 1994 article on John Fahey was a major discovery point for me. Fahey unlocked a whole new realm of music that I'd been unaware of...damn, it makes me sad thinking about Spin used to be a good read. Through the beauty of the intarwebs, you can read it here: http://books.google.com/books?id=ZURL7ud3IwsC&pg=PA63&dq=John+Fahey&hl=en&sa=X&ei=O2BlUfX2I-OV0QHCr4DwAQ&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=John%20Fahey&f=false
  8. i got a copy via the 35% off sale Newbury Comics had...it's awesome. think i'll ditch the Fu Manchu show for this one.
  9. you say stuff like this just to give me an ulcer, don't you?
  10. i put in for the show but looks like they are tight w/ press this tour...no press tickets available, and apparently no photo passes have been issued yet. and tickets are $60/$75 before fees. yowza. i guess they don't need the publicity!
  11. so how was good ol' Nick? gonna see Har Mar Superstar tonight.
  12. i saw Bradford last year as Atlas Sound, and he did "Tonight's The Night" four times during his set. it was actually pretty cool.
  13. SF has a TON of records out, and i have only heard a handful..some really fine stuff in there, though: http://www.discogs.com/label/Sublime+Frequencies i did an interview w/ Alan a couple of years ago and asked him a bit about the label: http://www.bigtakeover.com/interviews/alan-bishop
  14. i saw them in '90 or so, opening for Sonic Youth on the Goo tour. i was heavily altered at the time and thought they were 8' tall w/ hair down to their asses. Steve's still got some great hair
  15. ah, thanks. i was looking on the solid sound website.
  16. or even better... check out Sublime Frequencies, the label run by Alan Bishop (Alvarius b, Sun City Girls) and Hisham Mayet...they have discovered and released a very wide array of music from all over the place, and put out the first Bombino record.
  17. is there a way to lodge requests now? i can't seem to find it...only this: "This is the first-ever all-request concert by Wilco. It may also be the last. Info on how to request songs coming soon."
  18. prepare for your mind to be blown.
