  1. I saw a ton of shows...just put up a post at my site that includes my favorite shows and a gallery of my favorite shots of 2012: http://photos.tinnitus-photography.com/blog/2012/12/recap-of-2012
  2. There's gotta be a new Neko Case, right? And add Nick Cave to the list.
  3. pretty sure this show will never be topped for me http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2010/orpheum-theatre-boston-ma-53d0a781.html
  4. it's certainly not bad, but i don't really see what the fuss is. it is likely that residual anger from poor treatment by his manager also figures in.
  5. bböp, thanks for the info! i never did get a chance to play poker w/ Albini at one of the ATPs where he hosted a couple of tables. Maybe some day.
  6. i guess that was the $40 pay per view i noticed while flipping through the channels last night. i watched a few episodes of Chopped instead.
  7. I saw the 2nd to last concert that Ronnie James Dio performed, and his voice was STAGGERINGLY good. I was shocked at how great he sounded. He was 66 at the time.
  8. it is better, but he no longer has the power he had. it's not surprising...his singing style was brutal on his vocal cords.
  9. i guess it shouldn't surprise me that some Wilco fans aren't on board w/ Chuck D's music, but questioning his influence?
  10. i know it's extremely difficult to shake from one's set formula. even given the career twists and turns of someone like say, Neil Young, has he really done anything that stylistically different over the last couple of decades? i'd be interested in hearing people's opinions on what bands have successfully moved on from their earlier sound. i'd toss out a couple of maybes: Paul Weller Melvins
  11. that pretty accurately describes most of the large venue bookings (outside amphitheaters and indoor stadia) over the last few years...if i was Live Nation, i'd be really worried when the classic rock/70s FM radio guys start dying in greater numbers.
  12. didn't that country start way back when w/ "Wanted Dead Or Alive"? i agree, that band is terrible.
  13. yeah since he never plays live really at all anymore. might as well put Bowie Spiders-era or Black Flag on the list.
  14. nonsense. i listened to Goo the other day and it's still great. EVOL is their best record, and Sister is not far behind. SY was arguably just as influential as Black Flag. i think BF should be in there as well.
  15. i respect that he liked and helped out The Frogs. here's a pretty cool video taken shortly after Dennis' tragic drowning this summer
  16. i was just busting balls, but Neil and SY go into distorted guitar from completely different angles. I think Neil still hews to the standard tunings and traditional song structures (aside from the feedback freeform of "Arc" and when is the last time you listened to it?), whereas SY does something completely different.
  17. I've seen what you listen to. yeah but aren't you from the South? you aren't supposed to get art.
  18. If Dire Straits gets in and Sonic Youth doesn't, the building should be burned to the ground.
