  1. i wonder what the frenzy for tickets is gonna be like...
  2. because they made Phallus Dei and Yeti. they rule in my tiny realm. Hawkwind could also garner honorable mention.
  3. Pink Floyd Roxy Music/solo Eno Amon Duul II Neil Young
  4. classic lineup returns: http://www.robertpollard.net/news.html
  5. they did, and the video too. looks like Merge put on 'Keep The Glove' as a bonus track for _Bug_
  6. my bad, i didnt' realize that 'Lose' was Lou's song. maybe an onomatopoeiac pun? i still like 'Poledo' but i can see how others wouldn't. i wonder why the Merge reissue didn't put "Show Me The Way" on it like the original SST reissue.
  7. it's only one ("Poledo") and while thematically it's not a good fit, it does presage Lou's direction w/ Sebadoh and is interesting from at least a historical perspective.
  8. that would be cool. two weeks after the SSF, i'll be at ATP to see SY play, Lee w/ Text of Light, and Steve w/ Michael Rother as Hallogallo, playing Neu! songs.
  9. there's more to music than wilco, and they are inviting you to listen w/ open ears.
  10. If there's any Isis fans here, you probably know they pulled the plug on the after a dozen+ years, which made their just previously announced tour a hasty farewell event. here's my review + photos of the first of two shows, with the Melvins: The merch table had everything but spit guards Buzzo has captured a soul in his guitar. Hmm...is that the right chord? I also did an interview w/ Buzzo and Dale before they sound-checked...gotta transcribe that next.
  11. Eleventh Dream Day - Death Of Albert C. Sampson XTC - "You're A Good Man Albert Brown (Curse You Red Barrel)"
  12. well, i took the thread title at face value...'debut albums' so i didn't worry about counting EPs.
  13. 'gary's got a boner' has filler written all over it. the rest is ace, however. imo, there are very few flawless records.
  14. this is the weak bit, for me: The Card Cheat Lover's Rock Four Horsemen
  15. Modern Lovers - S/T REM - Murmur Black Sabbath - S/T Blue Oyster Cult - S/T The Verlaines - Hallelujah All The Way Home Sun City Girls - S/T Spacemen 3 - Sound of Confusion The Chameleons - The Script of the Bridge Sad Lovers and Giants - Feeding The Flame Wipers - Is This Real? Espers - S/T
  16. from what i've heard they can't move the damn poles as they are load-bearing. i think the plan is to shift the stage a few feet in the Comm Ave direciton so the pole isn't directly in teh center. they are gonna rework the back stage area too, and move the ticket office. not sure if any of the balconies are gonna be reworked but i would imagine the answer is yes.
  17. HoB isn't bad, but it depends on how tall you are and when you get there. i personally like to stand up on the right side, at the rail (lansdowne st side). if you get there early enough you can get a great vantage from up front, but then getting a beer or going to the restrooms can be a pain w/ a sold out show. the 2nd level is useless unless you are right at the rail, or are very tall. the 3rd is good (esp the seats in the center) but i think those are VIP (actually not sure how they work). The old Roxy (now called Royale) is booking more shows, since Bowery Present took over booking of t
  18. now playing: Kurt Vile - Losing Momentum (for Jim Jarmusch)
  19. thanks! it was a bit of a drag that they wouldn't let us shoot from outside the barricade...trying to get a shot of all 8 band members in one image is a bit daunting when you are 2 feet away from them. i can't understand why they wouldn't let us just run up to the 3rd balcony and take 10 seconds to get a shot... at least it wasn't a lockdown like last night's Danzig show. i'd been told that Glenn was not issuing any photo passes for the entire tour so i didn't go, but a friend said he got hassled and almost kicked out by security for taking a photo from ~70' away w/ his phone...apparently Gl
  20. pretty good show. always nice to catch the full lineup, as Dan and Neko bring a considerable amount w/ them. review/photos: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/the-new-pornographers-the-dodos-the-dutchess-and-t/
  21. also: Mildred Pierce Karen Koltrane Marilyn Moore Mariah Carey and the Arthur Doyle Hand Cream
