  1. this. loved that movie. so well done.
  2. that doesn't seem to be the case for Neil's tour. the theaters are small enough (~2500 or so ppl) that the demand is there. any people selling tickets outside the venue (which was sold out in advance) got face value to the show i saw.
  3. well i will definitely check it out, since Weller's been known to write a great song or ten.
  4. well, we agree to disagree. i just got back from seeing Hitchcock play, and he was outstanding. he continues to put out compelling records too. that 22 Dreams release was a stillborn turd. oh, just thought of another obvious one...Mark E Smith.
  5. excellent game, though i was worried that after 3, the score was tied despite Ray Allen and Rondo's ridiculous efforts.
  6. maybe Eminem's fee was too high? Elton had filed for bankruptcy at some point, but i can't find many details about it.
  7. Ghost stopped touring the US until George Bush was out of office.
  8. best song ever about a car: Swervedriver - Son of Mustang Ford
  9. no one? i would counter with: elvis costello robyn hitchcock buzzcocks siouxsie chris bailey ed kuepper david byrne david thomas nick lowe
  10. buzzcocks - fast cars (they even namecheck Ralph Nader)
  11. zz top - she don't love me (she loves my automobile) and of course, this awesome video w/ cameos from John Doe and Exene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY8MrSUf5VQ
  12. found this tidbit of interest in one of Bob Lefsetz's emails, around sales of records:
  13. photos from last night: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/the-national-the-antlers-house-of-blues-in-boston-/
  14. yeah, i shot last night's show. i wish i had had a flash w/ me since at the end, Matt walked through the crowd and down a railing to the back of the room, then to the bar, walked down the bar and then back to stage, singing all the while.
  15. Good show last night. i wonder if tonight's show is also a sell-out.
  16. there's some available space at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
  17. weren't they called The Bangs originally? http://www.discogs.com/Bangs-The-Getting-Out-Of-Hand/release/2119503 edit - Ethan James was producer for that record, and i just found out that he was also in Blue Cheer. cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_James_(producer) http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ethan+James
  18. that's not just a baby, that's BOOJI BOY! stuff like this is what makes Neil awesome.
  19. no word on Buckler? i would go see a Jam reunion show in a heartbeat. the solo Weller show i saw two years ago underwhelmed...
  20. agreed that ticket prices for Neil were super steep, but at least he played pretty small venues (~2500 ppl capacity or less). if bruce, petty, (insert 70s FM Radio Superstar here) played a similar-sized venue, i can't imagine that the tickets would be priced much differently. if he sold 'em for $50, scalpers would eat that shit up and sell 'em for the price Neil set to start...
  21. after seeing the Stooges the first time, i'd bet that 90% of the audience was getting it on later that night. some potent stuff there.
  22. i am glad i wasn't the only one who thought that. RIP Dennis. you left behind an outstanding body of work.
  23. no research needed...i'm well aware of the trader community's slavish devotion to SHN/FLAC files. my point is that this rigid covenant to adhere to lossless formats can be a waste of bandwidth when some source files are of such dodgy quality that it makes no difference, and no pair of 'golden ears' could possibly tell a difference given a controlled ABX test. i've definitely downloaded shows off Dime that fit into this category. yeah, one could likely measure a difference, but hearing it? doubtful. btw, Billy Childish is definitely someone worth seeking out. anyway, before you b
