  1. which song spoils the fun of _American Water_ for you? my least favorite track is probably "People" but even that's a pretty good song.
  2. can we now talk about how uniformly awesome these records are?
  3. holy geebus http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220616554478#ht_500wt_1154
  4. Super Furry Animals, maybe? which is funny, because i love them, and really don't like the Beach Boys.
  5. i saw 'em once and they do a great job w/ the visual projections as well.
  6. yep, he was there: on the previous tour, as well:
  7. yeah i must have gotten confused re: Homegrown, as I've heard some but obviously not all of those songs.
  8. 'sex on fire' is a contender for the dumbest song title of the century.
  9. next time i hope there are St. Bernards in the rafters.
  10. i've found both Chrome Dreams and Homegrown from some various internet sources. both had songs that popped up on official releases. haven't heard the other two. i've got an LP of Time Fades Away but it's funny how Neil still shies away from that one...i wonder way, it's great.
  11. 'sister ray' the worst thing VU ever did? it's in the top 10!
  12. just when you think the maximum amount of bullshit a PR can sling has been set, the bar is raised link so 'staying on for as many songs as they can' and 'going for it' = 3 songs? where the opening bands did their entire sets? fucking losers. wear some sombreros and don't look up.
  13. yeah, definitely some good ones. i really like the black and white one w/ the girl on the car, but it would make a lousy label...hence, my vote for the hot dog (also an excellent photo, and very evocative of summer).
  14. personally i think YoA is a bit overrated; great title track, epic. but the 1st and 3rd are overall stronger records.
  15. Tickets are purchased. i'm going to the Matador 21st b-day/lost weekend thing too.
  16. I agree that a truly flawless LP is a rare creation, but people see merit in different things, so clearly there is no universal standard upon which to judge. that said, I'd hazard these records as complete statements, truly awesome from start to finish (i'm purposely only mentioning rock LPs, as jazz, opera, classical, etc seem to me to have an easier standard, having less songs). That said, here's a dozen that I could easily spend the rest of my life with. Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand Come - Don't Ask, Don't Tell Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream of Trains Boris - Boris At Last: Feedback
  17. we're not gonna spin off into a pedantic discourse on the meaning of 'prolific,' are we?
  18. that's not the place to start...that would be like wondering about the Velvet Underground and listening to _Squeeze_. well, maybe not *that* extreme, but you really can't go wrong w/ stuff from the debut up through at least _Land of the Lost_, and one can make a pretty strong argument that good songs exist on _Follow Blind_ and _The Circle_ (not to mention Sage's two solo records, _Straight Ahead_ and _Sacrifice (For Love)_. the 1st three are the most hallowed, however.
  19. thanks! but it was nothing really special, or elaborately thought out.
  20. i thought of a good idea for a photo on Sunday, two days after the contest closed.
  21. right there is the equal of let it bleed/exile on mainstreet/sticky fingers or face to face/something else/village green or tommy/who's next/quadrophenia
  22. i would hope that GBV would add another Boston date (Paradise capacity ~750) before another Philly date (Troc capacity 1200)...and i can't see them playing another city after NYC. that seems to be the logical end spot, with the possibility of adding a 2nd NYC show a more realistic development than playing another city again.
  23. since Philly is sandwiched in between the Boston and NYC dates, i can't see how they could add another date. i'm pretty surprised that they didn't either book a larger room (Royale or House of Blues) in boston, or two nights @ the Paradise. the tickets were gone fast.
