  1. Polvo - In Prism after a 12 year hiatus, they put out their finest record. well done. Mission of Burma though the newer one isn't as strong, I can find no fault with ONoffON or especially The Obliterati, both excellent records. and the live show is still so exhilirating. Dinosaur Jr the band is definitely different w/ Lou and Murph back in it, and Beyond and Farm rival anything they'd done previously. edit - Todd, the 2006 records from Buzzcocks (Flat Pack Philosophy) is quite good as well. I'll be doing a phone interview w/ Steve in a few hours, and am looking forward to seeing them
  2. a good friend of mine has put on two of these shows at his place...Wreckless Eric in '06 and The Renderers last year.
  3. David Bazar did one last year as well, iirc.
  4. there was no cd included. just four fabulous slabs of black vinyl.
  5. here's another one (Stiff Little Fingers - At The Edge)
  6. the part in 'Theologians' when Jeff sings "No one's ever gonna take my life from me/I lay it down" always gives me shivers. the gentle slide parts in 'Poor Places' after Jeff sings "his jaw's been broken/his bandage is wrapped too tight"
  7. who replaced him? i am fairly sure that he was on drums for both the '07 and '08 tours i saw. in a strange coincidence, i was just reminded about a dream i had last night, about meeting neil's ex-accountant who was fired due to differences of opinion.
  8. yeah, i meant that that the last time i saw Neil w/ CH was then. missed the Greendale tours when i was overseas.
  9. i'd love to see Neil w/ Crazy Horse again....i think the last time was on the 'don't spook the horse' tour in '90/'91. seeing as though Molina's been playing drums w/ Neil, i guess the malcontents are Talbot and/or Sampedro?
  10. best one off the top of my head: The Clash - I'm Not Down
  11. at least you didn't use 'oeuvre' is this gonna turn into another thread where people argue over word definitions? that was fun(ny).
  12. i now realize that i responded to a pretty old thread, but what makes it not part of the 'canon'? it's part of their body of work; hell, even b sides or unreleased live songs would be fair game in that definition, i'd think.
  13. the OT session of Bruins/Flyers was likely the best one i've ever seen. great game.
  14. like all the Wilco vinyl releases, it sounds great.
  15. I've been watching all the Life episodes and they are incredible. most of the time i don't watch much TV, as i'm either out seeing a show, or upstairs on my computer, editing photos. however, i've been thoroughly enjoying the Celtics and Bruins playoff games so far.
  16. i'm a bit behind, but will get something up this weekend.
  17. i'm way too much of a collector geek, and while 'completist' means different things to different people (to rabid fans, that would include owning a physical copy of everything single, LP/CD, promo, compilation, etc that that particular band has been involved with), i definitely fall under the spell of some bands too much. bands of whom I am a hardcore completist: Sun City Girls Hood Guided By Voices all vinyl from the Flying Nun label Kurt Vile Grails Jack Rose/Pelt Six Organs of Admittance Tar bands that i have a lot, though not nearly complete, discography of: Sonic Youth Billy Childis
  18. maybe Nels can get his local friend Byron Coley to co-curate the noise part.
  19. There ain't much to country living Sweat, piss, jizz and blood
  20. Frankly, Mr. Shankly (The Smiths) oops, i see i am a bit late.
  21. who's driving this ship? should I just make a mix, upload and share the link?
  22. Pavement was never a fantastic live band, but the setlists from the NZ/Aus/Japan shows have been amazing, and if you are even a cursory fan i would think it would be worth seeing them. i highly doubt it's gonna happen again.
