  1. not trying to be contentious, but the Buzzcocks were a better band than the Beatles, at least to me.
  2. i saw them on the _only life_ tour in the early 90s, and then last year...they still sounded fantastic. i'm gonna catch their show @ ATP when they play the 1st record.
  3. so i only saw two songs of the show on Monday but they were a highly polished entertainment machine...Gilman Street is a long ways away... http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/green-day-bravery-td-garden-boston-pics/
  4. I emphatically agree..here's my review and a few shots: review
  5. a torrent site, like dimeadozen, would be more efficient for distribution.
  6. and another thing, Kotche's an amazing drummer.
  7. i recently read somewhere that this song is about 'death proof,' the 2nd half of _Grindhouse_ that Tarantino directed...

  9. agreed! that is very nice of Jeff.
  10. after the 3rd or so song Jeff knelt down at the edge of the stage (John's side) and it looked like he said something to one of the photographers. did anyone catch what he said? i was @ nel's side and didn't notice him until he was done talking.
  11. review and photos of the show: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/wilco-conor-oberst-and-mystic-valley-band-lalacheu/
  12. i just got confirmed today, but won't be able to do any of the pre-gig meet ups...am gonna bring the boys for their first rock show. hopefully they will dig it.
  13. Sunday was a pretty special show, featuring Yo La Tengo in their Condo F*cks alter ego persona, along w/ a rare appearance of Nick Saloman (aka The Bevis Frond) and a rejuvenated Sleepyhead, as part of a benefit for WMBR, MIT's radio station. they ended the evening w/ a all-bands-on-stage cover of their friend Chris Knox's "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" which was an inspired choice, given the recent turn of events. Review of the show here's a photo of James ducking down to see Ira standing on the bar in the other room during the Tall Dwarf's cover. more shots: http://narlus.zen
  14. yeah, i got approved about 12 hr prior to the concert! they had strange shooting restrictions too; there were only 4 shooters who were broken into two groups; group 1 shot songs 4 and 5, and i was in the 2nd group which shot songs 9 and 10. weird. unfortunately, she was much more animated during 'taut' (song 6) and the new title track (song 11). it's funny...i'd read that Howe was playing the NYC show, but didn't really see any shots from it. here's the best shot i got from 'Giovanni' and i'm not sold that it is Howe...but then again, i haven't seen him play boston since _Chore of
  15. i saw it just under two weeks ago...fabulous stuff. here's the relevant scribblings and shutter actuation evidence: PJ Harvey + John Parish more: http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p481237828/
  16. even if you aren't a GBV fan i highly recommend watching this...one of the best rock documentaries i've ever seen.
  17. i recorded this but haven't watched it yet. i know they were filming during the Boston performance i saw last year.
  18. no, i would put stoner rock and doom into different categories. doom is much slower...listen to early melvins for a taste of where that came from. stoner rock is definitely more 'rock' in its execution. back on prog, i think i am gonna go see Van Der Graaf Generator this summer.
  19. it's really funny that @ the boston show, i met up w/ a friend at intermission and he made the call between becky and shara's vocals and the wilson sisters. then they pull that one out! i wasn't familiar w/ _Hazards of Love_ but enjoyed it quite a bit. i would have really liked to have heard more RH though; his headlining show in boston back in May was cancelled due to laryngitis. i saw him + Venus 3 in '07 and it was fabulous, including an encore w/ 'ballad of a thin man,' 'see emily play' and a beatles' song i can't recall right now. this was a soundboard shoot which also kinda irke
  20. pretty great show, though the opening slot was dismally short @ 30 minutes. http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews/the-decemberists/the-hazards-of-love/26692/ more photos of both bands: http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p518658217 http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p298071900
  21. review + photos from the Phish show click here click on the lead photo for more
  22. i just got confirmed to shoot the Sunday show...haven't seen Phish since '89 @ the Paradise. never a big fan; the only reason i've been to either show is because of friends. still, should be fun to shoot @ fenway.
