  1. if they hadn't started going seriously downhill since _Love Kraft_ i might back you. plus, the live show in '05 was great but they were the WORST act at ATP/NY this year...really disappointing to me.
  2. what songs did you listen to? i find it hard to believe that a general fan of ROCK MUSIC could not be moved by some Pollardian creations
  3. no, the best live LP ever made (and one not listed in this top 100) is BOC's _On Your Feet Or On Your Knees_.
  4. well how about the fact that, unlike books, the MSRP for any cd is typically the same (not counting 'nice price' stuff).
  5. for me it'd be REM, mainly because i probably listened to them more in college than all the other bands combined. 2nd place would be CVB; didn't get into husker and SY until late college or after college. the Femmes i was listening to in high school.
  6. Criminal Records is a great store. i checked it out a bit when they did the 3 band in-store before Scion Rock Fest...totally dug it. for me, it's because mail order is so much easier...i live ~30 miles from the stores now, and browsing the racks is something i only get to a few times a year.
  7. i saw Wolf get there late...he was up in that little side balcony, stage-left. bill janowitz was there too. i did notice the blank marquee outside but didn't think anything of it.
  8. i'll be doing a writeup w/ some photos, but i was only approved to take shots of Calexico, and not Neko.
  9. Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream of Trains Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling Neil Young - On The Beach Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain Tar - Over and Out
  10. i was showing up in this thread to make the same post. man, Neko was fired up about the promoter. i tried to do some sleuthing to find out the root of the matter but my source told me that joey and john didn't know what it was. good show though!
  11. and take Dave Mathews w/ him. how is Howe Gelb not invited? J Mascis? screw that lineup. i wanna make my own show.
  12. I really enjoyed this show on Sunday...I'd seen the Who a couple of times (1st 'farewell tour' at Shea in '82 w/ the Clash, and then again in Foxboro in '90 or so) and have always been a fan. Seeing Roger having so much fun doing whatever he wanted to was a blast. REVIEW and PHOTO GALLERY
  13. well even if the cd dies, that's a hell of a mausoleum.
  14. Neko Case - People Gotta Lot Of Nerve Polvo - Lucia Dinosaur Jr - Pieces Kurt Vile - Blackberry Song Om - Cremation Ghat (pts 1 and 2) Baroness - Swollen and Halo Bill Callahan - All Thoughts Are Prey To Some Beast [this is the best song i've heard all year] Boston Spaceships - Radical Amazement Death - Politicians In Their Eyes Harvestman - By Wind and Sun Kylesa - Unknown Awareness Papercuts - Once We Walked In The Sunlight The Reigning Sound - The Bells Sonic Youth - Massage The History Super Furry Animals - White Socks/Flip-flops The Flaming Lips - Convinced of the Hex The Mary Onettes - D
  15. yep, although they only have 3 members which makes it easier. and aerosmith has had defections in the past. i think U2 would be the next in terms of total years. edit - Cheap Trick does indeed pre-date U2.
  16. to do this, the single would have to have radio (or some similar vehicle) have significance once again...not sure that's gonna happen in our increasingly fractious world...
  17. i bought a copy of the Chijimi 10" from Bonnie Prince Billy and it came w/ a download coupon for _Beware_. but not the songs from the record i bought. of course, it was $20 for that 10".
  18. i guess it comes down to yr particular appetite for hard rock, but they had a string of records to be proud of. dream on draw the line lord of the thighs seasons of wither no more no more lick and a promise sweet emotion some good stuff there for sure.
  19. what about emusic? i find it strange that Koretzky doesn't sell via iTunes. drag city is a kickass label though...so many good bands and records...
  20. i have bought one digital-only download, a 4 song EP from a british folk outfit (Sand Snowman). other than that, it's physical artifacts all the way. over the last 18 months, for new purchases i've bought 80% LPs, 20% cds.
