  1. yeah, if you like the Jesus Lizard you will definitely hear where they got some of their ideas from (The Birthday Party)...also, for a bit more difficult listen, you can check out Blixa's band Einsturzende Neubaten. and 2007's solo record from original seed Mick Harvey is also quite good.
  2. i would point out these records: the boatman's call let love in henry's dream murder ballads
  3. RTI is a very good pressing plant. Matador uses them. I've been happy, though the Mogwai record (Hawk is Howling) was a bit noisier than i expected. i think the Wilco records sound amazing on vinyl. really well done.
  4. Thanks! Nope, I didn't go last night. Also, you might have confused me w/ someone else as I wasn't @ the Tanglewood show last year...last two shows I've shot Wilco was the LeLacheur Park in Lowell, and when they opened for Neil Young last Dec.
  5. screw those guys. i was the only photographer approved to shoot them as well, but they presented me w/ a photo waiver that transferred copyright to them, allowing them to use the photos in any manner they wanted w/o paying me one red cent. they wouldn't amend it either. no thanks. and musicians complain about people illegally downloading their music...
  6. Here are my shots: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/paul-mccartney-fenway-park-pics/ Jim and John got a good shot of Paul when he first got on stage...I was still dicking around w/ my gear and was caught by surprise and missed it. we were all camped *way* back from the stage so everyone had the same perspective, shooting-wise.
  7. A music legend in one of the most historic buildings baseball has to offer. perfect weather, too - the thunderstorms never appeared. i only got to shoot 2 songs and then i got the bumrush out under the centerfield bleachers, but it was a cool experience. i hung outside for a bit to hear some more. http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/paul-mccartney-fenway-park-pics/
  8. i'll be @ the 2nd show, unless i find some cheap ticket for mccartney after i'm done shooting the 1st two songs.
  9. Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy Windowlicker is quite good, too.
  10. 1. First Concert, when? The Outlaws and Molly Hatchet... i was in jr high school and went w/ my brother...must have been around '79 or so. 2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did? probably the same answer as #1. or maybe Cheap Trick on the _Dream Police_ tour. 3. Favorite Band? not possible to answer. 4. How Many Times have you seen them? most times i've ever seen one individual band is either Neil Young, Sonic Youth, or Yo La Tengo...about a dozen or so times. 5. Worst concert you attended? Soul Asylum and Agitpop @ Hampshire College...my friends and i were trippi
  11. not trying to be contentious, but the Buzzcocks were a better band than the Beatles, at least to me.
  12. i saw them on the _only life_ tour in the early 90s, and then last year...they still sounded fantastic. i'm gonna catch their show @ ATP when they play the 1st record.
  13. so i only saw two songs of the show on Monday but they were a highly polished entertainment machine...Gilman Street is a long ways away... http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/green-day-bravery-td-garden-boston-pics/
  14. I emphatically agree..here's my review and a few shots: review
  15. a torrent site, like dimeadozen, would be more efficient for distribution.
  16. and another thing, Kotche's an amazing drummer.
  17. i recently read somewhere that this song is about 'death proof,' the 2nd half of _Grindhouse_ that Tarantino directed...
  18. The Byrds Jefferson Airplane Talking Heads REM X Butthole Surfers Sonic Youth CCR Sleep The Meters The Melvins Guided By Voices Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 Sun City Girls Blue Oyster Cult The Stooges Devo Come
  19. agreed! that is very nice of Jeff.
  20. after the 3rd or so song Jeff knelt down at the edge of the stage (John's side) and it looked like he said something to one of the photographers. did anyone catch what he said? i was @ nel's side and didn't notice him until he was done talking.
  21. review and photos of the show: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/wilco-conor-oberst-and-mystic-valley-band-lalacheu/
  22. i just got confirmed today, but won't be able to do any of the pre-gig meet ups...am gonna bring the boys for their first rock show. hopefully they will dig it.
  23. Sunday was a pretty special show, featuring Yo La Tengo in their Condo F*cks alter ego persona, along w/ a rare appearance of Nick Saloman (aka The Bevis Frond) and a rejuvenated Sleepyhead, as part of a benefit for WMBR, MIT's radio station. they ended the evening w/ a all-bands-on-stage cover of their friend Chris Knox's "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" which was an inspired choice, given the recent turn of events. Review of the show here's a photo of James ducking down to see Ira standing on the bar in the other room during the Tall Dwarf's cover. more shots: http://narlus.zen
