  2. cross-post: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=38922&view=findpost&p=1335927
  3. i just checked the local summer show here (in Lowell) and kids under 8 get in free. i might end up taking my 7 and 9 year old boys.

  5. playing the entirely sublime 'east virginia blues' version that Jay played on w/ Roger McGuinn...couldn't find a youtube version. it's such a cliche to say that people die too young, but i can't possibly see how this wouldn't apply...i hope his friends and family find solace in the impact his music made on so many people he never met.
  6. i went to this last night...awesome time! i'll put the link up to my shots/mini-review when it's live.
  7. who included the 'popular' qualifier? not me.
  8. this thread is turning pointless because there is no way to objectively quantify 'music quality.'
  9. i just found some tourdates on brooklynvegan and they played NYC two weeks ago, but didn't make it up to boston. shakes fist angrily.
  10. obviously Coldplay likes his songwriting talent.
  11. i shot the Pogues when they played in March, but the lighting was rather dim and it was hard to see what sort of condition Shane's mouth was in. he did have his own bottle, though. more http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p1037121631
  12. where did they play? i've only seen Ghost once (Terrastock V) and they were great. i did see Batoh w/ Helena from Espers last year, and that was really fun.
  13. you've got it all wrong. there is more talent out there than ever before.
  14. i've got a lot of the stuff he's been involved with...White Heaven, Stars, Onna, and Ghost. even the stuff w/ damon and naomi. kurihara =
  15. Kurihara is among my favorite guitarists. amazing tone.
  16. i am certain you will dig the show. he's got a great band, esp jim white on drums and that emmett guy on guitar.
  17. forced audience participation is another circle of hell. ray davies fucking ruined his own show because of that grandstanding bullshit.
  18. at acoustic shows it's the worst thing imaginable. well, if the crowd decides to add handclap percussion, it actually gets worse. i had a Neil Young show ruined by this shit.
  19. i don't have an account at what.cd, but what i've heard of waffles seems like it's not too far off from what oink was like.
  20. yeah, there was a guy behind me who had an SLR too; i heard the shutter a couple of times. it's not worth it for me to run afoul of Live Nation, though. still, it would have been fun to shoot; Will had some, er, interesting faces/gestures going on. great show though, i really enjoyed it.
  21. i was at the show as well, thought it was fantastic. what a great band he's got assembled, especially emmett and jim white. loved some of the arrangements. thanks for the setlist! i really wanted to shoot this show, but drag city said will wasn't granting photo passes and to just be discreet...well, after shooting @ the wilbur WITH a photo pass for mogwai and dealing w/ their headaches, it wasn't worth it. oh well.
