Robyn Hitchcock: I Often Dream Of Trains (concert film)
tinnitus photography replied to Jay's topic in Someone Else's Song
i recorded this but haven't watched it yet. i know they were filming during the Boston performance i saw last year. -
no, i would put stoner rock and doom into different categories. doom is much slower...listen to early melvins for a taste of where that came from. stoner rock is definitely more 'rock' in its execution. back on prog, i think i am gonna go see Van Der Graaf Generator this summer.

err, my mind went on me...nevermind.

Decemberists/Robyn Hitchcock + the Venus 3
tinnitus photography replied to tinnitus photography's topic in After The Show
it's really funny that @ the boston show, i met up w/ a friend at intermission and he made the call between becky and shara's vocals and the wilson sisters. then they pull that one out! i wasn't familiar w/ _Hazards of Love_ but enjoyed it quite a bit. i would have really liked to have heard more RH though; his headlining show in boston back in May was cancelled due to laryngitis. i saw him + Venus 3 in '07 and it was fabulous, including an encore w/ 'ballad of a thin man,' 'see emily play' and a beatles' song i can't recall right now. this was a soundboard shoot which also kinda irke -
pretty great show, though the opening slot was dismally short @ 30 minutes. http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews/the-decemberists/the-hazards-of-love/26692/ more photos of both bands: http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p518658217 http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p298071900

i just got confirmed to shoot the Sunday show...haven't seen Phish since '89 @ the Paradise. never a big fan; the only reason i've been to either show is because of friends. still, should be fun to shoot @ fenway.

Spinal Tap - Unwigged & Unplugged Tour...

playing the entirely sublime 'east virginia blues' version that Jay played on w/ Roger McGuinn...couldn't find a youtube version. it's such a cliche to say that people die too young, but i can't possibly see how this wouldn't apply...i hope his friends and family find solace in the impact his music made on so many people he never met.

who included the 'popular' qualifier? not me.

this thread is turning pointless because there is no way to objectively quantify 'music quality.'

i just found some tourdates on brooklynvegan and they played NYC two weeks ago, but didn't make it up to boston. shakes fist angrily.

obviously Coldplay likes his songwriting talent.

Stop the RSS feeds, Shane MacGowan has teeth!
tinnitus photography replied to lizish's topic in Someone Else's Song
i shot the Pogues when they played in March, but the lighting was rather dim and it was hard to see what sort of condition Shane's mouth was in. he did have his own bottle, though. more http://narlus.zenfolio.com/p1037121631 -
where did they play? i've only seen Ghost once (Terrastock V) and they were great. i did see Batoh w/ Helena from Espers last year, and that was really fun.
