  1. this is a fantastic name for a record. much better than, say Wilco(The Album) or even Wilco (The Phone In)
  2. probably. anywyay, the new(est) guitarist of my now defunct(?) band want a lefty lucite tele. I have too many dream guitars to post here, i'd just look like a slut.
  3. lots of possibilities here: Glen, Nels, Brian Ritchie (Violent Femmes), and Sun Ra Jeff, John, Jay Farrar, Mike Heidorn (couldn't resist) and just so someone doesn't feel left out: Mike, Pat, Mo Tucker, Dean Wareham
  4. see i love teles and i love hollowbodies so for me the look is the best of both worlds. but yes, the sound is what really counts. Todd, i thought your dream guitar was one of those Dan Armstrong clear things.
  5. She is a beauty- which model is it exactly? I think there are several versions of reissues which look similar. Hope it comes sooner rather than later!
  6. I prefer Phil Collins far away from my porn whether it is blurry or not. Cool article.
  7. Shit, when people start talking sense like this around here, it's scary. Let's all take a deep breath and get back to the usual inane blather these times so desperately need.
  8. I listened to it today, it had been awhile. 15 years later and it still gives me goosebumps, literally. Holy shit.
  9. My kids' favorite songs are Casino Queen and Box Full of Letters. Pretty good for 4 and 9, I think. Long live Dad rock!
  10. Crow: right on. McGuffin: well, i don't want to break the rules, so i'll just say nothing.
  11. And these aren't the first two times i've seen it. I think this board is about ready to rename it Wilco (The Phone Call). Anyway, AM>W(TPC). Not even close. While we're at it, AM>SBS, and yes, even AM>ST. So there.
  12. In short, no. Having said that, there are some elements of jamminess that Wilco does embrace. I tend to think of jamming as extended improvisations. This is not something that Wilco does live, but One Sunday Morning, for example was apparently recorded in one take, the take in which Tweedy was introducing the song to band. So that would mean that 5/6 of the band was improvising, or jamming. I've hear that they have in fact done whole records this way- improvisational songs in real time- as a musical exercise. (I would live to hear one of these btw) So that could also be considered jammi
  13. wait what did that just say? ok, whiskey bottle over jesus if not forever just for now and all, but what?
  14. i'd be surprised. that said, my nominations would be rockville or wendell gee, perhaps feeling gravities pull. would have to something early (document or earlier). maybe feist would join them for shiny happy people.
  15. If this were 18 years ago i would have cared. I'm sure that the decision came after a time of serious reckoning. It's impossible to say if this was a mutual decision or if there was some pretty persuasion going on. I imagine when you do something like this, there is a lot of second guessing, perhaps a few letters never sent to band members or fans. They probably wanted to get on with their lives and said let's begin the begin. Now, these days, it's time to think about the legacy, and reconstruct the fables that are emerging. it doesn't take superman to figure out that the one i love is
  16. well, I got Being There when it came out and still listen to it regularly. I've probably heard it several hundred times. I just heard the "boing" for the first time.
  17. I hear youse, and while I tend to agree, I do also know that when doing things like choosing which tracks to include and what order to put them in, there sometimes comes a moment when you are faced with two possibilities of equal merit, so it comes down to a vote, or a toss of the coin or whatever. Undoubtedly there were other working sequences or alternative sequences before this one was chosen and it would be interesting to see some of those ideas, or speculate about what they might be. The fact that the "definitive" sequence has two variations (the bonus c.d. and the vinyl sequences) s
  18. "Message from Mid-Bar" is fantastic, and "Speak into the Rose" aint no slouch either. I'd rather have these two on the album proper than Black Moon, Rising Red Lung, or Standing O.
