shouldn't be that hard to get hold of. it's definately my favourite parliament album. make sure you get the version (i think it's the one poptodd has got - judging by the pic) which includes the bonus tracks becuase then you get "fantasy is reality" as one of the bonus tracks - and that song is amazing. also, the sister album to this (from funkadelic) - in terms of sound and variations in style - is "america eats its young" that album is fantastic too! "biological speculation" on that album is one of my fave clinton songs.

anyone else think it's funny that hearing people talking on a live jazz album sounds unbelievably cool, but it is unbelievably annoying on a live rock, folk, pop etc... album. playin this mainly for Ain't That Peculiar - lonnie plays the organ on that bad boy too! (i can't believe nobody has ever nicked that song for movie soundtrack or advert! - the central riff in it with Benson on guitar and Lonnie on organ is incredible!)

i'm surprised the super-fans on the message board think Southern Harmony And Musical Companion was their peak. I thought it would be Amorica - anyway, that would be my peak. I quite liked Three Snakes and One Charm too, actually. But, then lost interest - until The Lost Crowes came out - that was fantastic, but wasn't most of that from the Amorica time-period anyway? i think i'll check out Croweology, sounds like i'd like it.

dark days/light years is one of the ones i don't listen to that much. it's a bit like love kraft actually, when i put it on i end up thinking "shit, this is actually really good", but i just tend to reach for the others first. guerrilla will probably always be my number 1 though. and actually hey venus! ranks pretty highly too - that is a fantastic album! np. prince rama - shadow temple

nah, i don't think there is any extra dylan. it's more a case that they just linger on everything much longer - to me, it's like the pace is off with it, and it needs to be edited by someone. actually, i think in one of the documentaries on the dvd it says that the directors cut was not actually what peckinpah would have wanted it to end up like - it was just a rough cut, which he knew would be edited down - like he left more in than he wanted so that when they said "it's too long, cut it down" he was not cutting the meat, just the fat. -

ah. this might turn into another beach boys argument type thing, but do you really like the directors cut more? i think it's nowhere near as good as the theatrical version - the pace is well off in it, i seem to remember even the fantastic opening sequence is a mess, whereas in the theatrical version that opening might be my favourite in any movie - just with the music, the freeze-frames, the changings of time, and billy's gang hanging around being bored. i think i need to watch them both again (it came out on dvd with both versions, and i've got it), but after getting it and thinking "fantast -

nope, the sound clips don't work. i probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless it was just a clean sound anyway.

ha ha. well - yeah. i've got it on dvd actually. the musical moments are fantastic, but the film - well, it's just boring. one of my friends watched it at my house and said it was possibly the worst film he'd ever seen. anyway, ok - i'll amend what i said. "only see masked and anonymous AFTER YOU'VE SEEN PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID, and you're not too bothered about sitting through a really dull movie that is so much less than all of its parts" -
What did it cost, and what parts did he replace? And what did it sound like? I don't know, i guess it's just me, but if i was going to do all that i'd want to do it on a vintage guitar body that was perhaps not so well known (and therefore cheap to buy) and would then look unique and sound unique at the end of it. I'm all about the looks! My friend is actually currently building a lap steel guitar. Yep, a lap steel! And when i say building, i don't mean from old parts, i mean making it from scratch. Last weekend i had to help him make the pickups. Yes, he is actually making every-bloody thin

what do you mean? pat garrett & billy the kid? or just random tracks from films. pat garrett is a great soundtrack, i mean ultimately it is just a soundtrack and soundtracks tend to work best with the pictures going along with it (if you get what i mean), but still definately worth hearing. Billy (1, 4 & 7 - yeah, there are a lot of versions of a few songs) are all fantastic - that's a great song, actually Gillian Welch has covered it, and then you get a few versions of Knockin' On Heaven's Door - (Final Theme, which is that song, but played with a flute is actually fantastic!), and th -

it's all good stuff, but bugger me sideways! isn't it about time they did some stuff post the crash and pre-his 90s comeback? i do keep saying this, but it just seems so bloody obvious to me that they should do it. stuff like this would be great to hear properly http://www.dailymoti...-virginia_music -
have you thought about lifting the bridge and maybe getting one of these for the neck http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Extension-nut-riser-Slide-Guitar-Resonator-lifts-action-/140432980209?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item20b27538f1 so that you can practice lap steel style rather than blues bottleneck style. it just means that the strings are lifted equally away from the neck (when you play they shouldn't touch the neck) and so you can get a country sound etc... Maybe it wouldn't be any good, I don't know - just an idea. i'm not very good at it, but when my brother plays his acoust

ha ha. ok, but seeing as how i said some negative things he must take my advice now, and throw it out the window! that's the rules. also, he wants to refinish the neck and body - i think it'll cost more than just buying a guitar in the condition he wants.
-
i don't want to be negative, but i personally wouldn't bother doing it on a squier. what is it? like a Strat copy body, or something else. i mean if it's a cool looking model then maybe do it , but if it's just a strat or telecaster copy - the standard ones - then if you're going to replace those things you mentioned with genuine new or vintage parts it's going to end up being expensive whilst still ending up with a 'squier' at the of it, if that makes sense. if you really want to resurrect an old guitar, i'd find something a bit more vintage and interesting online or from a friend or whate

i'd have thought the soundtrack would have been REM ....babooom chah!

of course not! we'd have to have a referendum for that kind of button.

no £ sign, you bloody americans! the $ is right next to the £ sign on my keyboard - what happened to our nations "special relationship"?

guns and shooting in dreams probably have something to do with impotence or something, anyway. so i wouldn't worry. myself, i've had a few zombie dreams recently, but i've never got a gun, i'm normally hiding or running.

if you change that $5 to £5, i'll be laughing all the way to my piggybank!

the answer to your question is YES. obviously yes. now help answer my question.

cool. cheers for the info! so that means SFA aren't gonna ever finish that Instrumental album then? never mind.
