  1. So despite the numerous mentions of album names and the word 'album' you were actually talking about live shows here? Lol.
  2. Page 8, first post. He was clearly talking about the songwriting at that point and not their live shows. I dunno why you're trying to defend him anyway, seen his type one time too many on the interwebs, bold statements without the knowledge to back it up.
  3. Yes, this is obviously Jeff's band but Wilco was at its peak when someone else (Benett, O'Rourke) was pushing the enveloppe as well. I feel like someone should creatively challenge him a bit more, and when I look at who's currently in the band that someone could be Cline. I get this nagging feeling Tweedy surrounded himself too much with yes-men at this point. Lol, nice try but this was not your original point. Your original point was some silly nonsense about Cline being responsible for the creative decline in Wilco, which made no sense whatsoever and just proved you don't know a lot
  4. Yeah, but I wouldn't mind Cline being more involved in the creative process, right now he's nothing more than an expensive touring guitarist. But maybe he's just happy to be the guy carrying Tweedy's suitcases, it's a steady job after all and his solo records are finally getting some attention in Wilco's slipstream as well. Tweedy should kick Sansone though.
  5. Why are people blaming Cline? From what I can hear that guy was barely even present on W(TA)(they actually recorded the majority in New Zealand without him) and the one song that sounded like it did feature Cline heavily (BBN) was actually by far the best song on that album. People should give one of his solo records a spin sometime, he's capable of a lot more than just the impossible germany guitar solo. Probably easier to blame to new guy than to accept W(TA) was just Jeff Tweedy in his "I don't have a lot to say atm but here's another collection of Wilco songs"-modus eh.
  6. A.M.: I must be High/It's Just That Simple BT: Sunken Treasure/Why Would You Wanna Live ST: ELT/We're Just Friends YHF: Poor Places/I'm The Man Who Loves You AGiB: Muzzle of Bees/Hummingbird SBS: On & On & On/What Light W(TA): Bull Black Nova/I'll Fight
  7. Lol, Turn a Square is like the most underrated song in their catalogue.
  8. Chutes got the better reviews and is more popular amongst casual fans, I don't really care what die-hards are thinking. And thanks for confirming my suspicions, people who prefer inverted usually do that because of 2-3 songs while completely ignoring the many weaker ones. Chutes is the only Shins record that works front to back whitout a single weaker song, it's one of the most consistent albums of this decade (especially the second half is really good) and fully deserves the higher ranking on that list. Whincing on the other hand was indeed a big let down.
  9. Chutes is wildly considered the better record, and rightly so. 2 or 3 brilliant songs don't make the album as a whole.
  10. I'm surprised YHF is ranking this high. They seem to have regained somewhat of their status at Pitchfork after falling from grace during the agib-sbs era.
  11. Great: Bull Black Nova (my favourite), Deeper Down, One Wing, Country Dissapeared Good: Solitaire, Sonny Feeling, Everlasting Everything Meh: Wilco (The Song), You & I, You Never Know, Dark Neon Annoyingly bland: I'll Fight So that makes it a solid effort: better than A.M., at about the same level as Summerteeth and maybe Sky Blue Sky, though not as good as the remaining 3 releases.
  12. So, what's remember the mountain bed doing on the 3d spot? Solid song for sure but nowhere near Tweedy's all time top 20 actually. On the other hand, the list's number 1 is the same as mine, my second favorite ranks at 5 (what's up with the criticism for muzzle of bees in this thread anyway?). So no reason to complain I guess.
  13. Great, I never even heart the 'best song of the decade'...I honestly doubt the "cultural impact" of B.O.B. is that big, Hey Ya would've been a more understandable choice. And of course 'All My Friends' isn't bad, but it ain't really the second best song of this decade either. I'm pleasantly surprised they recognized the genius of One More Time though.
  14. Only 22 in my country, finally we have something to be proud of. But compared to Umbrella: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umbrella_(song) it's really only a minor "hit". As joss ackland rightfully pointed out, ms Clarkson would never feature on a European list (it'll probably have other crap by Duffy and Amy Mcdonald instead but hey). Anyway, if you're going to include that kind of chart-sensitive pop songs in your list it might be something to consider. Hmm dunno, I'm expecting a lot of Radiohead in their album list, but post-OK Computer they stopped having mass appealing singles like Par
  15. She ain't that cute, though. But seriously, if you have to include shallow pop-songs I can understand why Umbrella is on there. That was actually a catchy song which received lots of airplay around the globe. The Clarkson-thingy did none of those things.
  16. Nocturama is widely considered as his worst delivery. Imo, No More Shall we Part and Let Love In are his best. Abbatoir Blues/Lyre on the other hand isn't quite as good as some people want you to believe.
  17. So, people are actually whining over the high indie-level of this list while fucking Kelly Clarkson is sitting there on the 21st place?
  18. Nah, a few were indeed using CERA but they all got caught since it's not that hard to detect it. I'm pretty sure last year's tour winner Sastre was cycling relatively clean, if only because he's just not that good.
  19. YHF >> BT > SBS = AGiB >> ST > W(TA) >>> AM
  20. I never said that. But around the year 2000 about every professional cyclist was using epo, I really doubt you could win the biggest race on earth whitout it at that time.
  21. They are nowadays but not at the time he won those 7 tours.
  22. Their album picks are even more hilarious though, kudos on choosing the 4 worst songs on that.
  23. She's a jar... with a heavy lid... lalala
