I saw him on 3/31 at the Hollywood Bowl. It was such an incredible show - if he announces dates near you, Go! The man is in amazing shape - musically speaking. He played for 3 hours and the whole thing sounded fantastic. His band is really talented and they sure know how to rock. All the old tunes are still in the original keys and Sir Paul's voice still sounds amazing. The setlists are pretty much the same for each show, but some great surprises when I went included "And I Love Her" and "I've Just Seen A Face." Loved the Wings tunes. I hadn't really listened to the Firemen album mu

Are we listening to the same band? I don't think Wilco ever plays an entire song, note for note, the same from night to night. There's always a basic form and structure, they are always playing the same chord changes and what-not, but there is different mood, fills, etc - even the way Jeff sings things each time is different... As it should be. This is one of the many reasons I love Wilco. I like music as an art-form that is constantly changing and evolving. Think about how songs like Spiders and Sunken Treasure have evolved and appeared in different incarnations over time... The art chan

I love this record. I started listening to Wilco around the time this came out, though I was actually given AM to listen to first and then A Ghost Is Born. I do love YHF, but A Ghost Is Born is my personal favorite Wilco album. The sound of the album is just so sweet to my ears. At Least That's What You Said is a killer way to open an album and Muzzle Of Bees might be my favorite Wilco song. I think that it's such a rockin' album with an incredible flow. I love all the songs - not that I have that much to complain about with the other albums. Sky Blue Sky is kind of a weird one with me

Just started watching HBO's The Wire on DVD. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Hoodoo Voodoo playing in the background of an episode in Season 3.

Here's a link to my solo myspace. My band hasn't gotten any pages together yet. We're still working on mixing our demos and recording some other things. We did a cover of Ashes Of American Flags, which will be up on our band pages when we get them together. I will post a link to all that when it's ready. I also have a reverbnation page with a few more songs than the myspace, so you can search me there too. Hope you enjoy!

Here is a link to the FAQ section on Nels' website. He answers toward the types of things you're asking. Nels Cline FAQ I want to be an alien like him, as well.

Thanks for posting! Very cool.

Awesome. Love the Otis Redding-ish take on the song. Lauren's is very creative and cool.

Holy crap! What an awesome setlist. Hope this one finds it's way onto the interwebs.

Just downloaded the Dekalb show. Very awesome, spirited and emotional show. Love the old school Sunken Treasure with the new line up. The September 19th show is awsome too. Nels joins the band for Handshake Drugs. At the end Jeff comments about hm being the greatest guitar player in the world. Can't say I disagree.

I was wondering the same thing... that would be pretty awesome.

My friends have all begun mentioning to me when they hear Wilco somewhere out and about or at work.

Pick pretty much any live version you want of any of these tunes and the solos will be phenomenal. I had the pleasure of hearing In A Future Age at my first show this past summer in Los Angeles - one of my favorites and has stellar guitar parts the way they do it live. Ashes of American Flags from the same-ly titled DVD is a particularly awesome version... as is the one on Kicking Television. in no particular order: Spiders (Kidsmoke) Impossible Germany You Are My Face Ashes Of American Flags Hell Is Chrome Handshake Drugs Muzzle of Bees At Least That's What You Said In A Future Age O

Wilco on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson January 28

Just saw Wilco on Craig Ferguson on the west coast. Love One Wing. Awesome. Wilco Rules. -
I just picked up a used Fender Super Champ XD for a pretty good price. I thought the sound was pretty decent - and then I hooked my 12' cab from my Epiphone Valve Jr. Stack and I couldn't believe my ears. The sound was incredible. I've been looking for something that might be a bit more portable and give off a little more body and tone than the Valve Jr (which I love, it's just bulky and has it's limits... though I haven't modded it at all). I only really use the clean all-tube 15 watt channel without any of the modifiers built into the second channel. I have never enjoyed the sound of m

Ha ha! No way- Hell Is Chrome rocks my face off too much to be a dirge.
-
Ha. The first time I listened to YHF - I distinctly remember hearing Radio Cure and instantly loving the vibe of the whole song. The words caught me and sent me into thought. The beat bounced me along in a nice little groove. Dirge is probably the last word I would have come up with - I think this song really moves, it's just in a much more subtle way. Funny how subjective an experience listening to music can be.

I recently downloaded the London, Apollo show from 2005. It's a soundboard show - so the quality is great. Pretty great setlist - for my taste. Also the Greek Theatre show from 8/24/07. This is a matrix source and also sounds great. Another great setlist. Gotta love a Sunken Treasure opener and In A Future Age>Spiders (Kidsmoke).

They have been my favorite band of the decade.
-
Just read Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Albums of the Decade - Wilco landed at number 97 for SBS and number 3 for YHF. My biggest shock is that A Ghost Is Born is no where to be found on this list. Don't get me wrong, I love to listen to SBS - but if that's gonna be on the list than I think AGIB should have joined the discussion as well. Kid A grabbed the #1 spot.

Ben Gibbard just did a record with Jay Farrar too... Right?

The new way they do One Wing cant touch this
Muzzle of Dan replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Just A Fan
I definitely think this version rocks a little bit harder, but I can't really complain about the newer version. It was still really great live when I saw them this summer. -
