It's a shame this stuff costs so much. I would like to have the other disc of this current Self Portrait box, but there is no way I am paying 100 bucks for music releases anymore. I would rather like to have Bob's take on Wild Mountain Thyme. It is streaming online, at least. (You can't beat Sandy Denny's version of that song though.)

You can never have too many photos of Dylan walking around with a drum under his arm. I've always liked those photos.

Official Doctor Who discussion thread

It looked like something I might be interested in watching. I am up to The Five Doctors (1983) on my quest to watch all the episodes. I sort of recall watching that episode back in the day. -

The Paul McGann Doctor Who movie is on BBC America tonight. I also saw a commercial for the new David Tennant show Broadchurch. -
I read somewhere there is going to be a big boxset type of release of The Basement Tapes at some point. Of course, you can find the unreleased stuff out there to grab.

Do musicians' appearances matter more than their sound?

Of course, there was a time when they wore "psychedelic" clothing. I think that all changed towards 1969/1970.- 65 replies

Oddly enough, I've read similar quotes from Robert Plant and members of The Who. The song Sally Simpson is based on something Pete saw at a Doors show. I disagree with what they had to say. But - it's all good. I wonder if Jerry knew that he and Jim had some things in common. Their admiration of The Beats is one of the things they could have talked about. I figure part of that was the friction that went on between the L.A. and S.F. bands. That was still going on in the 80s - at least in the early days of the metal scene.

I think he has played with Phil a few times. And Phil covers some of his songs from time to time. Do you know the Ryan song Rosebud? Most seem to think that song is about Jerry, although there are those who say it is not.

It's also different than most - due to the mode of travel. Fire Season: Field Notes From A Wilderness Lookout - Philip Connors (This is a great book. And you also get references to Jack Kerouac and Gary Snyder.) I am also reading the book I Want My MTV - which makes me feel ancient.

Analogman replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's a great album. I just found out today that it was out. The cd I have from the early 1990s sounds like crap - so I hope this one sounds better. You may want to go for some of the live releases: Live At The Boston Tea Party Volumes 1, 2, 3. -

That was filmed for the rock and roll documentary that was on PBS in 1995. I think I have that on video. (Of course, the whole thing is probably on Youtube.)

I'd like to see that Fahey film. Another connection in the Wilco cast of characters - Jim O'Rourke and John Fahey. -
I'll have to look that one up. I love the drums in The Eleven.

I wonder if we'll see anymore shows from 68 get (commercially) released? Newport Pop Festival 1968

I'd say you are right. It looks like it is the standard liner note type of deal.

That's 20 bucks less that what I saw the other day.
