I recall an interview somewhere where Jeff or Jay mentioned a live album that was put together but never released.
-
The order page for the cd is up now: Family Dog at the Great Highway, San Francisco, CA 4/18/70 CD.
-
The cd was re-issued in 2003. You must be thinking of the vinyl re-issue.
-
I don't know if I want to buy it for a third time or not. I have all those bonus tracks. I suppose if I buy this one, it will be for the liner notes and improved sound quality of the bonus tracks.

Stream of the re-issues: Dive into the genesis of alt-country with a stream of the new reissues of The Bottle Rockets' first two records (A.V. Club).

I am not really interested in anything past 1973 or thereabouts. Except for maybe a couple of bands - I don't do the completest thing anymore. I am buying the release at the end of the month - because it is acoustic stuff. You can't argue with this: I would not call myself a deadhead. I just enjoy listening to the Grateful Dead from time to time.

It sounds as if Paul is retiring. I wonder how long it has been since they have recorded an album in this country? I just hope the album is not the "dance/techno" album they talked about making.

From Billboard (U2 Album Slated for Early 2014 Release):

Tell us more about the show. One of those shows appeared at bt.etree.org for a brief time. It got taken down of course, and the band did not allow their recordings to be up there for a while.
-
For those of you who may be bummed about the SBD shows being blocked at Archive.org. You can find just about every SBD there is at bt.etree.org. I have not bought a GD cd in a long time - but I will be getting that acoustic release coming out at the end of the month.

I am really into the songs: Appaloosa, A Train Still Makes a Lonely Sound, and Houston Don't Dream About Me. You may also want to check out the dvd - Cabin Fever.

I may be the opposite - I prefer the voice now. At least - I don't miss the "screaming in the microphone" vocals of the olden days. I have to say that Before The Frost. . .Until The Freeze is one of the best albums they ever made. I am guilty of not much caring for a band once their sound changes, but with the Black Crowes, I think it is alright.

I think you can see the taper at various times during the film.

I think that Trigger Hippy album is going to come out also. I grabbed some shows from this recent tour - but I have not listened to them yet. I thought that was a trip they got Betty to work with them.
-
I'm sure you can find on Amazon or some place for next to nothing.

The place is probably mentioned in his book. I do recall he talks about playing in bars around where he lived.

I prefer Buddy on Machine Gun and probably most of those Band of Gypsies songs, but overall, I prefer Mitch. I think in Noel's book he talks about how he just happened to be in the right place at the right time. And - he had an afro hairstyle. I think he says he never played bass before that day. A lot of bass from Bold As Love/Electric Ladyland was actually overdubbed by Jimi. Or so I have read. Oddly enough, Noel was one the people who tried out for the Stones after Bill left.
-
It's odd to think that Billy Cox is the only left now. I suppose I am disrespecting Noel a bit, but I prefer the Hendrix/Cox/Mitchell line-up. That's another sad book to read - Are You Experienced?...(Noel's book).

I use to watch that on videotape with a friend of mine back in the early 90s. One of my favorite pieces of Jimi's music is Hey Baby (New Rising Sun.) There are two versions from that film. One with the Strat, and one with the Flying V. I prefer the Flying V version. I recall we use to notice there was something funky about Mitch's drums - film to audio sync. It was not until several years later that I learned that he had to redo all his drums parts in the studio.

I recall receiving that party due to the fact the shithead mailman left it at the bottom of the stairwell that led up to my place at the time. It's amazing someone did not step on it, or grab it. I also got The Cry of Love/Rainbow Bridge/War Heroes/Loose Ends/Crash Landing/Midnight Lightening by way of Ebay.
-
And his British equivalent - Chris Welch. You can see a lot more interviews (including Eric and Pete) in the film I mentioned above. It's on DVD now. I recall with some joy when I was able to get the original soundtrack on vinyl some years ago - by way of Ebay.

I watched about half of the new documentary. It seemed to me to be an updated version of A Film About Jimi Hendrix (1973). Which is probably my favorite Hendrix bio film. I noticed they left out Leon (Jimi's real brother). If you want to read about his not so pleasant upbringing, check out a book called Room Full of Mirrors (Charles Cross). I think there were a few things I had not seen before. Such as that psychedelic painted house they were traipsing around in. I suppose I will watch the rest of it online at some point.

You should check out Carl And The Passions "So Tough"/Holland/The Beach Boys In Concert.
