  1. I was going to say earlier - the Walkman/Discman is longer made. Is that correct? OR what we use to call jamboxes/ghetto blasters. I did a search on Amazon a while back for a tape deck. About the only thing that came up was a cheapy model that was set-up to hook up to a computer - in order to make Mp3 files from tapes. All this talk of tapes takes me back to the days when my mullet was thicker and healthier.
  2. I know some dudes who use to go around looking for such things when it became BMG/cds. They would take the cds and then sell them to the local record store.
  3. Thanks for posting. Maybe the idea will become reality.
  4. I ran into some of those smelly hipster people at the farmer's market a while back. They tried to jump in front of me in the line to buy eggs. I read somewhere the other day that Dinosaur Jr is re-releasing some of their albums on cassette.
  5. I find that funny - when bands start selling their own bootlegs. I guess Frank Zappa was the first to do such a thing.
  6. I don't think I have not seen a cassette in a store since the early 2000s. Of course - where I live there are no record stores, independent, or chain type.
  7. I didn't know cassettes were still being made. The Best Buy here where I live has maybe two rows of cds. And I noticed they are marking them down to 3 bucks for Black Friday. I think Walmart/Target/Best Buy will cease carrying cds at some point.
  8. I don't know if I believe all of that. The way I understood the article was big labels/Top 20 artists. I doubt very many Justin Beiber fans have a cd player in their bedroom. I would think the majority of those sort of folks sales are digital. I don't really know much about popular music, but I don't see too many young people owning anything other than an iPod.
  9. I don't own an iPod, and still refuse to pay for Mp3 files. I suppose if record companies start offering FLAC downloads, I would go for that. I noticed that article said "major record labels", which I don't think there is that many of, so others will still make cds I would think. Plus, there is the whole vinyl resurgence - which still baffles me. I have noticed this month that Wal Mart has big bins of cds for 5 bucks each. So - they must be getting ready to stop carrying them - unless it's a holiday thing. About the only way I buy cds anymore is by way of Amazon. And I don't really buy
  10. I thought it was great. But - it was whitewashed somewhat.
  11. I think you can get the Pet Sounds box for 40 bucks.
  12. What's your thoughts on all of this at the moment? Can we at least pay to preserve the site as is?
  13. I think some of the stuff on the box is from the humor album Brian wanted to do. I am looking forward to hearing that.
  14. Cincinnati Pop Festival [Midsummer Rock 1970]
  15. It's been mentioned. I prefer Wilcobase.
  16. If I can help you with anything, let me know. I would at least hope Wilcobase will stay up as is - I am willing to pay for that.
  17. And before that, records and tapes. I still have several from back in the day (1970s).
  18. Mike Mills Q&A 'I Feel Oddly Liberated' (Billboard.com interview)
  19. I always found that backdrop funny. At least - it is funny once you learn what the band's name actually refers to.
