  1. And, a lot of people wrote their names on the album cover. Which makes me think of the original pressing I have of Magical Mystery Tour. The price is written on the front of the cover in black marker.
  2. I miss that sort of deal. There is use to a flea market here where I live down by the river (near a van) that had a whole room full of records. They were not $$$$$ either, but rather, a dollar or two. That is the last place I bought used records - several years ago now. I sometimes wonder how many copies of Tapestry were pressed, as there seemed to be stacks of that particular album there.
  3. I was reading the fist volume of the taper's book last night and noticed something. There was some talk of Keith being a big fan and already knowing all the songs. In other books I have read that he was not familiar with The Grateful Dead, and was not really even into rock music.
  4. There are a few Wilco older shows around that came from silver bootlegs. I would think as time goes on, you would find less and less of that sort of thing. Although, I don't have any record stores to go to, so what do I know. There was a thread here recently with a link to some idiot selling Wilco cdrs by way of Ebay. That sort of deal should always be reported. I do know for a certain other band, that the bootleg folks are now taking shows they get by way of BT, putting them on cds, adding artwork, and then selling them. I find that hilarious. There is simply no need to buy such things.
  5. There are audio blogs out there where you can find live shows of bands in both FLAC and Mp3 file formats. You just have to dig around and find them. I am sure there are FTP sites as well. I think what we have at The Owl and Bear is sort of unique in a way. Also - you can search find message boards of bands where there are active vine and B&P threads. I believe there are also vine and B&P threads at some Bit Torrent sites. I prefer BT above all else. Audio blogs are alright, but I am not a fan of messing with a bunch of Rapidshare links.
  6. If you check out these BT sites, you will find all sorts of live shows by various bands (including The Grateful Dead and Bruce Springsteen): You can also listen to hundreds of Dead shows at Archive.org.
  7. A thread from last summer - that contains links to other threads about the same topic. There are probably more threads about the best live shows in this section of the board. It is a topic that gets brought up every so often, but does not always get a lot of response.
  8. There is a B&P section on Via Chicago located here. What you see at The Wilco Live Show Archives are files that you can direct download. Think of it as right clicking on a photograph online that you want to keep. All you have to do is click on a show, Autumn Defense - March 15, 2001, for example, Then you will see this: * adefense2001-03-15.txt - 433 b * adefense2001-03-15t01.flac - 13.43 mb * adefense2001-03-15t02.flac - 23.52 mb * adefense2001-03-15t03.flac - 22.56 mb * adefense2001-03-15t04.flac - 19.92 mb * adefense2001-03-15t05.flac - 19.57 mb * a
  9. Them Crooked Vultures To Release Debut Album Nov. 17
  10. Of course the funny deal is - that you can not snag a SBD in one place, but you can in another place. I find that a bit odd. I was listening to the Dark Star > Jam from Dick's Picks #2 last night. I love that Jam. New stuff: Road Trips Volume 3 Number 1 - 12/28/1979 The Jerry Garcia Collection, Vol. 2: Jerry Garcia Band, Keystone Berkeley 1975
  11. Restless and Wild and Balls to the Wall are better than that album.
  12. “Louder Than God”: Rush’s Neil Peart Remembers Blue Cheer’s Dickie Peterson Good stuff: Vincebus Eruptum (1968) Outsideinside (1968) I also have a rather battered original pressing of this album: The Original Human Being (1970)
  13. Don't worry about all that business - just check this section of the message board: Greatest Lost Track of All Time
  14. I never really got into them. I have heard various Motorhead albums over the years, but I don't think I have ever actually ever owned a Motorhead album. To me, they are more of a hard rock band, than a metal band. At least, they were in the beginning.
  15. Sometimes shows appear the very same night they take place. You just never know. I work on this stuff every day, and when I think I have a pattern figured out, it changes. People are going to do what they are going to do no matter what signs or rules you post. All you can do is answer "not yet" or just ignore it. At least, that is what I do.
  16. I think that deal is obsolete in a way. I think the wait a week practice was something that was more relevant in the B&P days. As I have said before - sometimes shows appear soon, later, much later, or not at all. All people need to do is keep an eye on Greatest Lost Track of All Time section, or just search BT sites themselves. Although a show may pop-up at various places, all most all of them appear at bt.etree.org, Dime A Dozen, or The Trader's Den. If someone is new, then they are not going to know about these things. But - anyone can learn to search.
  17. I saw this on Billboard.com this morning: U2's Youtube Channel
  18. I saw the bootleg Earthquake Country up at some blog the other day. I think I actually recall seeing that in a cd store years ago.
  19. For some odd reason, I was thinking of these songs today: Accept - Restless and Wild
