Jay Farrar: 6 Questions
-
There are hundreds of AUD/SBD sourced Dead shows up at bt.etree.org. You can listen to almost all of them at Archive.org. You can not download any SBD sourced Dead shows at Archive.org though. Of course, you can download AUD sourced Dead show from Archive.org. It is a direct download method, like The Wilco Archive. If a show was commercially released, then you can not download or listen to the SBD source at Archive.org. There will be a message when you click on a show stating that it was commercially released. There are also many other places out there to find Dead shows - such as audio

That's a good point. I think they should just stick to vault releases at this point. It sounds like Stephen is trying to copy Neil. Of course, Graham and David have already put out box sets in the past couple of years. I just read yesterday that Rod has yet another one coming out.

Most of the Wilco shows are posted there, or Dime A Dozen. Also, check this section of Via Chicago.

There are currently two sources. One of the sources is up at bt.etree.org.

Dead Lists

It may be just be a glitch. That is a Boston show, I do believe.

I figured they would put out Little Lizzie Mae at some point.

Odd / funny / interesting news stories
Analogman replied to cryptique's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Charlie: Mister. I am the Pope, this might be your church, right now I'm the Pope of Greenwich Village 'cause I got the tape alright? Bedbug Eddie: I like you have balls. I don't get too mad at that. -
Joan Baez (American Masters) I watched it last night. It is a pretty moving documentary. There are a few recent interviews with Dylan in the film. They also show some Rolling Thunder/Renaldo & Clara footage.
-
Jackyl That's interesting. I'd say those bands were more blues/hard rock, than metal(except for Slaughter).
-
I don't see that - there is nothing "hair metal" about the band. Unless you just mean hit orientated, as opposed to an album orientated band. I have always thought they were sort of both. Or at least they use to be - not so much now though. There first album is all sicked up, just like Pearl Jam's first album, and just like Nevermind (as far as that goes). I believe that was partly due to fact that other people had more say on the finished product than the band did.

So the shows were filmed: Cabin Fever (2009)(DVD)
-
I learned a lot of things reading through those interviews - some of which, I found disturbing. But, that is no surprise really. It was nice to see an interview with Kidd Candelario. I don't think there are very many interviews with him out there.
-
I agree with a lot of what Lefsetz writes, but sometimes he is just screwy. I think that may be all Stills and company have left - vault releases. I don't think they are signed with a record company. And I can't believe they are reduced to jumping on the covers album bandwagon. They should hurry, because I think the popularity of such releases is fading fast. Although, Barbra Streisand just had some success with a jazz standards album, so maybe I am wrong.

Stills article by way of Billboard.com

That's it.

Working Class Hero (I forgot they did that song.)

I believe I have an issue of CREEM (when it came back out in the large size format) that has an extended interview with Tin Machine. What was the other controversy? Something about a record sleeve with naked dude statues on it?
-
There was also a live album released (Tin Machine Live: Oy Vey, Baby). I recall seeing them on TV, but never cared for the music they made. Of course, I am not really much of a Bowie fan outside of his 60s-1973 output.

Thanks for the package, MB. According to Harvey Lubar this show contained Dick's favorite Dark Star: 9-19-1970 (This show contains a Darkness, Darkness jam.)
-
No big deal.

Wilco's Non-album Tracks (there is some talk about it there already) I think there is at least one thread about the Cash album in the Just The Fan section.

There are some nice podcasts on this site: Pang Pang I don't think I have ever seen the John and Paul photo that is posted there. That is a May Pang photo, taken around the time of the Harry Nilsson sessions.
