  1. We've been offline since Sunday morning - Ms. Viatroy heard about Jay's passing on NPR here in upstate NY.
  2. I don't know about a cover, but they have been mentioned in about every issue as of late. One from 1997: Not Just a Country Rock Band
  3. The Gilded Palace of Sin (1969) Burrito Deluxe (1970) After that, there are a lot of compilations, anthologies, etc. Granm Parsons The Flying Burrito Brothers
  4. There is a website now for When Your're Strange. There is also another Doors film coming out: I've heard from a reliable source that this one is good.
  5. I don't know - maybe I am going by things I read about the show.
  6. They called themselves "The Bitch Boys". I've never really heard the show, nor do I want to. I get the feeling they were making fun of The Beach Boys there. Which is a shame, as there are probably a few BB songs they could do pretty well.
  7. That is probably the Who album I play the most. I like the soundtrack to the movie also.
  8. Yes, check out the link a few posts back. There is a list of all the books seen or mentioned in the show.
  9. The one I have is a black box with four connections on it. It is like the one I had in the 1980s - it came from Radio Shack. I don't know if they still make them or not. My stereo is a made up of a 1970s JC Penny receiver, a multi slot cd player from the 1990s, an equalizer from the late 1980s, a turntable from a radio station, and a set of speakers off of my old Sony stereo system.
  10. I saw that. It's been up for a while.
  11. He gave it to him the first time he joined the band. It was an old one, I think.
  12. I think I've read the following: # 1.3 Animal Farm # 1.6 Bluebeard # 1.12 Catch-22 # 1.16 The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger # 1.17 The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands # 1.19 The Epic of Gilgamesh # 1.20 Everything That Rises Must Converge # 1.22 Grimm's Fairy Tales # 1.24 Heart of Darkness # 1.29 The Invention of Morel # 1.34 Lancelot # 1.37 Lord of the Flies # 1.39 Moby Dick # 1.44 Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge # 1.45 The Odyssey # 1.46 Of Mice and Men # 1.47 On the Road # 1.51 The Outsiders # 1.52 Pearl, The # 1.55 Stranger in a Strange Land # 1.56 The Shape of Things to Come # 1.59 Slaugh
  13. I wonder if he still has that Gold Top that Rich gave him.
  14. I think for a lot of people that may be true. I don't know if I have noticed it mentioned so much lately, but usually it's that album, or Summerteeth people seem to refer to, or mention quite a bit. I still believe that Wilco has never made the same album twice, and I doubt they will in the future. There are certain sounds, lyrical themes, and/or movements that may be exist throughout their catalog, but still, all of their albums are different. I still prefer the first two releases and AGIB to the rest of their catalog.
  15. What I meant was - they both badmouth the current way music is delivered, preferring instead, the way things were in the old timey days of the 70s/80s.
  16. Maybe we will pass you on the road at some point. We went there last summer. We mainly just walked around at looked at stuff.
  17. 2 ordinary kids from Pine Bush became famous for 1969 Woodstock photo
  18. I saw a re-issue of Big Pink on vinyl when I was at Best Buy the other day. It looked too sterile and clean. I guess since I have not bought anything but used records over the last 20 years or so, I have to see some wear and tear for me to be interested.
