  1. Yes - I got the name wrong. He actually talks about meeting The Clash in that HARP magazine Joe Strummer issue from a few years back. I have never been to that festival or Wheeling very many times for that matter. There are, however, some amazing Victorian mansions one can check out there.
  2. It went from the House of Whores to the House of Horrors. - still one of the greatest BTM quotes.
  3. It is my understanding that term Alt.country came about as a way to separate Uncle Tupelo and the like from the country music of the day - such as The Judds, Garth Brooks, etc. As LB said, no one was calling it alt.country in the early 70s - it was called country rock. Which I think is different from so-called alt. country - I mean, I don't see The Eagles or New Riders of The Purple Sage having anything in common with Uncle Tupelo. The other thing one finds in alt.country, is a punk background, which I don't think The Flatlanders ever had - as they pre-date the punk era of course. Although, B
  4. I just discovered that - I'm not fooling with it.
  5. You don't need to log in to snag it.
  6. That is a very good point.
  7. We're all big people now! (I still find this amazing) I think I mentioned this once - but this dude if from WV. (Tim Truman)
  8. Who knows - I would not listen to such a thing. I can see (and sometimes enjoy) a band doing a cover song or two during a show - but, bands suddenly jumping on the bandwagon of putting out whole albums of someone else's songs? Crazy.
  9. Everybody and their brother is doing cover albums now - blame Rod Stewart for starting the whole fad (maybe). Rubbish, I say. Don't forget to buy the Patti Smith and Tesla cover cds!
  10. Well - mainly - it was buying some of the 90s era live releases and releasing I did not care for what I was hearing. Plus - I just don't blow money on cds like I use to. It has to be something I will listen to - I have cds that I have never listened to or only listened to once. If any of you dudes get that DP book - maybe you could loan it to me at some point.
  11. It was a parody thread - the one it made fun of got moved I think.
  12. I've never heard Gan's show - but we use to have a show here called Night Phishing. I think the nearest radio station to carry the dead show for me is somewhere in PA. I look at his blog about everyday though.
  13. I'll pay you 6 dollars to delete that Huey Lewis thread.
  14. He did something like that for the NYE show also. I guess he must still be involved with them - as he gets stuff for his show. That was a wild deal in that one book about people waiting until he was on his honeymoon, taking tapes from his house to copy, and then returning them.
  15. I actually listened to that interview - I can't get into that music at all.
  16. I use to several years ago - they also now have a show on Sirius.
  17. In the context of the song, I understand that term to mean he has desires to return to what he is describing in the song going on around him. Here comes that shit again I got a Halloween head Head full of tricks and treats It leads me through the nighttime streets Black cats and fallen trees Under ladders - always walkin
  18. Paul on the Jools Holland show - radio interview
  19. They were releasing stuff - but then, they were lincensed or (whatever it is) everything that has to do with running the GD music/merchandise, as well as the vault. At least, that is what I recall reading. According to that Relix inteview with David Lemieux from a few years ago, there was all sorts of stuff ready to go.
  20. It's probably a good thing if one does not understand those lyrics.
  21. Me too - why do people not like the song - is it the subject matter?
  22. I forgot about that one. Probably Beyond Description also - but that before the take over.
