  1. "Four Sticks" - There's a reason why it was the only LZ4 track on the second box set: "Buh buh buh BAH buh buh"....BLECH! "Bugs" & "Stupid Mop" from Pearl Jam's "Vitalogy" And I'm going to get killed for this, but... "Kamera" Not a bad song, I suppose. But I feel YHF suffers from having truly great songs along side only decent songs. "War on War", I'm looking at you, too! Also, all of Yoko's songs on "Double Fantasy"
  2. From this article. Looks like two sets to me. I also remember that there were two Wilco sets announces initially, so if I'd bought tickets I would have been a bit annoyed as well. If you announce it, you really should do it. That said, I'd be excited to go either way. I'm sad I don't have the cash to go, and I think the price is reasonable. I wish all of you who are attending a splendid time!
  3. I was not aware of this. I stand corrected. My annoyance was really for the band, but if they dig that, then who am I to say anything about it? Sorry if I seemed too harsh. Exactly. And I do love that bit in the Sunken Treasure DVD when he says, "You can't hear me back there?" And they say, "No", and he says, "THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE STILL TALKING!" Awesome stuff, and one more reason to appreciate Mr. Tweedy. And that's kind of strange. Wilco music is fairly cerebral, and although it's not really niche, their music is for certain kind of audience. I have to say, the Iowa City show in
  4. I'm not really sure why people go to a show and talk through it. Do they really have that much money to piss away, that they treat going to a concert like going to a club? I saw Bob Dylan in October, and I was surprised that so many people were talking like there was no show going on. With the yelling of requests, I could do without it, unless asked to by the artist I'm seeing. What a lot of fans don't understand is that, as a musician, you rehearse and prepare your setlist, and a lot of thought goes into the order and the pacing of a show. I know this because I've played in bands for twenty
  5. I voted for a rarities boxed set, but I'd love soundboard downloads of all shows, too.
  6. There's always a weather-related trivia question on our local news in the morning. This morning it was, "The band Wilco, who recorded the album 'Sky Blue Sky', is based in what Illinois city?" This news is based out of the Quad Cities (Rock Island & Moline, IL & Bettendorf and Davenport, IA), so it wasn't that far of a stretch to think that some folks would know the answer, since we're a two hour drive out of Chicago. I thought it was kind of cool.
  7. Dear Jeff, I officially request a double disc (or download-only) B-Sides and rarities comp from Wilco (ala Pearl Jam's "Lost Dogs"), containing unreleased songs. Also, I request an alternate versions bonus disc. Thanking you in advance, Me
  8. I'd like to see a double epic record, like the the Beatles "White Album", a kitchen sink type of record. It's a format which would allow for different lead vocal turns and songwriting as well. Jeff's got the people in Wilco now to do this sort of thing. I'd love to see the others have more songwriting input just to see what would happen. Solid songs with some other more quirky tunes, some straight ahead arrangements mixed in with some really weird crap. "Being There" is basically like two regular Wilco records. This concept would so not be that (although I love that record). It might mean, h
  9. Yes, please!!!! And go back and sell downloads for older shows so I could get some of them! Everything except "You Never Know" has sounded great to my ears. Really cool and a really good sounding stream!
  10. "I still don't get people who thank god the band they love isn't more successful." I'd agree. Like it's a badge of cool or something, like the same people who can't stand new fans of their band, like they're jumping on the bandwagon. That's certainly not me. I just meant that they can't break into it because of what's popular right now, and radio is so controlling. I was talking to a music publisher for EMI recently about the Nashville music culture. He said that you really can't underestimate the power radio has over artists in Country music. It has to fit their template, which is very na
  11. "Not really, you don't." Oh no, I really do! Not interested in an argument. Just saying they don't sound like Lady Gaga or Britney or whoever the kids really like these days, so they won't get that kind of exposure. If Wilco did get that kind of exposure, that would be great (probably)! "Lady Gaga might not be on the charts if Wilco takes her place?" That'd be fine by me!
  12. "Deeper Down One Wing Bull Black Nova" "you think these are pop songs?" These are for sure at least pop-informed: great, catchy melody and non experimental. To me, it's not an insult. "One Wing" is as catchy as anything I've heard in a long time. BBN has a great pop groove. On the other three, I understand what you're saying. But look at this list: "(The Song)" "You Never Know" "One Wing" "Bull Black Nova" "You and I" "I'll Fight" "Sonny Feeling" "Deeper Down" All of these would have been welcome on AOR radio, or even 70's pop radio. Maybe not top 40 material right now (thank God),
  13. "you didn't find Summerteeth guilty of some of the same charges?" Somewhat, but not consistently. Summerteeth is not a total pop record, but a record with a lot of pop stuff on it. "She's a Jar" is not a pop tune, for example. W(TA) has pop song after pop song on it which, as said elsewhere, will probably lessen its repeat playing for me because there's no mystery. That may be its biggest offense, that it's a little more disposable than the other records. What I would like to hear is the non-radio friendly version of "Can't Stand It". Does such a thing exist? Or was the song written specif
  14. I like W(TA). But, as a recent (this year) Wilco convert (although casually listening since "Being There"), who is still currently digesting the entire catalog, I would say that W(TA) is a tight album, and recorded "by the book", the book being a pop-rock handbook. The melodies, lyrics and arrangements aren't experimental, but straight forward. And, as a straight forward pop-rock record, it works very well. But it doesn't fit into any of the other categories that the other records fit into, because Wilco just hasn't made a pop record before. My favorite part? The instrumental middle part of
  15. Thanks, Wendy! My wife and I would totally be in for bidding with a group. It would pretty much be awesome!
  16. Could someone explain this shows a little more? I've promoted living room shows by other artists in the past. How do you go about doing them? How do you join a group to bid on them?
  17. I'll add my name to the list. I'd love to have this on vinyl.
  18. Been a fan since "Ten". Faves are "Yield" and "Riot Act". "Backspacer" is growing on me. "Pearl Jam" is my least favorite. Don't understand why their ticket prices have increased almost 100% in the last five years. That about covers it!
