  1. i thought this was like a Wilco fan fiction thread... like Harry Potter fan fiction... i once wrote a short story based on Hold Steady songs
  2. TAN VAMPIRES! They're from the NH area and my band is playing with them, but I think I'm more excited to see them than actually play! Check em!
  3. This is sort of a bathroom song, that and the solo section of Handshake Drugs. I've seen them sooooo many times. But I do know that if I wrote these songs... I'd want to play them every night hahah.
  4. Glad to see some people getting excited for Craig Finn and John K Samsons records. Im really looking forward to Springsteens new record.
  5. sooooo exctied for this. And the new Craig Finn album
  6. not in order... The Low Anthem at SPACE in Portland in February The Barr Brothers @ TT the Bears Place in Boston in April and again at One Longfellow Square in Portland ME in December. Jeff Tweedy in Portland, ME in March Paul Simon at the House of Blues in Boston in May (i think...) or June... Dinosaur Jr at Port City Music Hall in July The Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Ocean Gateway in August of 2011 Elbow at the Paradise in Boston in September Wilco at the Wang Theater in Boston in September Murder by Death in October at the Dover Brick House in Dover, NH the Flaming Lips at the State Theat
  7. Elbow has been asked to compose the theme music... It'd actually be really cool to see them perform as well
  8. Basically all of Craig Finn's lyrics. I hear an amazing line of his and I just grin from ear to ear.
  9. ^ woah thanks! This is really helpful! As to who is on my guitar so far i have Jeff Tweedy, Guy Garvey of Elbow, and Brad Barr of the Barr Brothers, the Slip, and Surprise Me Mr. Davis. I still have to track down Justin Vernon, John K. Samson, Craig Finn, and E from the EELS (maybe).
  10. So I have this habit of tracking down my songwriting influences and having them sign my acoustic guitar. For sentimental reasons of course. No one would want a bunch of random signatures on a guitar But I was wondering if there was some sort of thin lacquer that i could put on there so that the signatures wont wipe off?
  11. I defiantly think the Grammy's are a crock... But at the same time it is really cool to see Bon Iver and Wilco get recognized.
  12. Bought it along with the Craig Finn 7''. Its really awesome to hear everyone on vinyl... but Im a little disappointed these "alt" tracks arent that different unless you're a huge music/sound nerd. Even then its just little things. the I Might demo is so shitty hahahhah!
  13. i like the T series. I've only played the T-40 (the bass) and it sounds freakin' awesome. They're both just so heavy! I do like the Squier classic vibe series, though. They're on the cheap side and for the most part sound great... they just need a little tuning up.
  14. Dude i really dig this! I chcked out guys out on your bandcamp. I'm really digging it. If you guys ever want to play an out of state show up here in Portland (ME), let me know. I'd love to set something up!
  15. This is one of the acts I play with. just guitar and drums. We did a Nirvana Nevermind tribute where each band from around town would cover one song... We did a Specials-Tom Waits-Punky version of Lounge Act... which we arranged that afternoon... so the singer doesnt know the words. Also I am completely wasted. Getting my Darren Jesse on! But it sounds better than I remember it.ahaha.
  16. in high school, a friend of mine would always cut out Family Circus out from the newspaper in homeroom. We would tape it into a notebook and proceed to write funny and vulgar stuff underneath each comic. I found the notebook the other day, funny enough. But either way, the guys dead. RIP. You had good values that were easy to make fun of.
  17. anybody else think the shots of Pat during the solo are freakin hilarious? It looks like he's playing the solo (even though he's not) but he's so animated it just syncs up really well
  18. Elbow is on their way though. I saw them at the Paradise in Boston in Stepember. The best show I've ever seen hands down. Great showmen. They also sold out every venue they played i THINK.
  19. YES! Guy Garvey is one of the nicest people i've ever met. Very funny and genuine. Love his radio show too. he'd do a great job. DId anybody record this? I missed it
  20. I'm seeing them tomorrow in Portland... I REALLY hope they stick to the more melodic stuff. Their new stuff (Embryonic.. though that has some OK songs on it, the Darkside of the Moon cover, and the 6+ hour stuff) isnt really my cup of tea... Infact i fucking hate it. hahah. But I'm sure it will be a spectacle nonetheless
