  1. haha thanks! these Clash of the Titans shows are so much fun. The Shins v Wilco is kind of a strange one. It'll make fora great show though!
  2. I have a friend who absolutely loses his mind over this band and I just don't get it. They're a well seasoned, kickin' blues band but the only reason they're getting this coverage is because they're kids. Other than that I just hear an early Rolling Stones which is a really uninspiring thing to hear in 2014. Unless they make their 3rd record completely different, people are going to stop giving a crap
  3. Go ahead and critique. But here's what I came up with ... Misunderstood I am Trying to Break Your Heart Handshake Drugs The Late Greats Via Chicago I'm the Man Who Loves You Monday We'll be rehearsing soon. I'll try to get some videos of the show!
  4. I think Wilco should stay at the Solid Ground camp ground. They can realize how terribly hot it is
  5. There's a weekly one off cover band battle here in Portland (ME) called Clash of the Titans. I just got picked to be the team captain for Wilco and we're going up against the Shins (weird). How it works is the Wilco team plays a song then the Shins side plays a tune and we got back and forth for 6 tunes, then the audience votes by round of applause, someone wins bragging right, and then each band plays an "encore" Anyways. My head is SPINNING with what songs to do. What is your dream 7 song set? I plan on doing a song segue into another for the encore. But what do you all think!
  6. Kevin Devine tonight! My friends are even opening for him. This is great!

  8. The National is a shitty live band. I do not like Radiohead or David Bowie (that much) .....
  9. Orange Rhyming Dictionary is an amazing record too. Perfecting Loneliness has some great great songs and is their most interesting and best sounding record, I think. They only had three records and they all are great
  10. BITE YOUR TONGUE BOY. This man is my McCartney. I love this mans lyrics. Jets is "emo music" but without the winey voice and more clever lyrics. I only think the opening is similar to Sunken Treasure. But it isn't exactly super original anyway. It just works and sounds nice. Anyways. JTB and all of Blake Schwarzenbach's stuff is super influential to me.
  11. I have Spotify Premium. I use it at work and on the go. It's awesome to have the option to be like "oh i really wanna listen to...." and be able to track down almost everything. I still buy CDs regularly As a musician and someone who generally cares about people being able to make money off of their art this gave me a lot of perspective. Not that Daft Punk needs the money nor is that the only way people are listening to this song... but only getting less than $10,000 for 100m plays is complete bull crap. And the fact that streaming services are the new thing scares the crap out of me. http
  12. usually if I have a buck and someone asks I'll toss it to 'em. Portland, ME has been having a real bad pan handler problem, actually. I read some statistic that they earn an average of $18 an hour and that fuckin pisses me off. I saw some guy with Oakley sunglasses and nice sneakers asking for money. Unbelievable. I like to give the benefit of the doubt and I always say that we dont know the whole story... But if you're asking for money cuz you're "homeless" you should at least look the part. Crazyness
  13. Sweet Avenue by Jets to Brazil. Always associate that one with autumn
  14. LCD Soundsystem. They're done broked up forever. Missed the boat on that one.
  15. how do all of you feel about people posting about it on facebook? there's an endless battle in my circle of friends who say "DONT POST ABOUT IT ON FACEBOOK I HAVENT SEEN IT YET" But isn't it a rule of thumb to stay away from the internet or not look at statuses related to that kind of thing until you do see it? I mean this show has its own Reddit for gods sake
  16. I know it was back in 2011, but Tweedy did do a few north East shows.
  17. Todd's meth Nazis are going to kill Skyler and Walt jr. cuz he wont go back and cook for them. So now he's going on the run. I hate Illinois meth nazis
  18. I played at a festival last weekend and they were the Friday night headliner. It was raining so hard that they moved them to the dance tent. Only 150-200 people showed up. Kind of sad but they actually seemed to have a lot of fun playing on eye level to people in a muddy dance tent. They won me over
  19. Truthfully I dont listen to them THAT often. I'll throw an album on every once and a while... But this summer I... -Went to Solid Sound -Covered Yankee Hotel Foxtrot with my band at a show -Saw them a third time at Americanarama Oddly enough I'm not that sick of them... I kinda could see them again this summer hahah
  20. I didnt get to see Ryan Bingham but MMJ really impressed me having not been super huge on their stuff. I really enjoyed them. Wilco obviously didn't disappoint, I just wish there was time for a longer set. My friend who came with me was struck dumb by their set. It was awesome to see. Dylan is Dylan. Every time I've seen him he's started off interesting, gets boring, gets a little interesting, then the finale/encore either sucks or rocks. I'll only see him again if there's a good opening act. What I really loved about the show is how each band made the venue into their own vibe. MMJ had t
  21. the new Volcano Choir single. The record isnt out but I can't stop listening to Byegone. Good lord.
  22. update on my wilco iphone case- it's bamboo. so it breaks easily. shit.
  23. My first Solid Sound. I had so much fun. I'm going to make sure I either get a hotel or a better camp site next year. I didn't sleep well and the Solid Ground campsite was in the middle of a field and I was so damn hot. Not to mention people's children were running around and screaming as soon as the sun came up. having said that- here's some insight for some older fans. If your kids can't handle running around in the sun all day and then sitting for 3+ hours watching a band in the evening, then they shouldn't be there. It was pretty annoying to worry about stepping on someones daughter who
