  1. King Crimson is one of my all time favorites and I'm very excited by this news, although I'm going to miss Belew!
  2. I don't know if it's about songs that were "fit" for Wilco, I seem to recall several quotes from various members of the band about new material sounding very nice and possibly more experimental. Is it even possible for Jeff to write a song not "fit" for Wilco, what is Wilco but the delivery device for Jeff's songs and through the course of their existence the Wilco "sound" has changed many times. I think it's possible he just enjoys playing with his son and wanted to do that and it's really as simple as that. Pure speculation here, but I don't recall hearing mention of the current "solo" re

Last night was awesome!!! The Viola Lee was one of my all time favorites! I think Nels fit in so much better last night then he did on the first night, I'm hoping he plays more with Phil because it has some serious potential. That line up is by far the best Phil has had since the Q.

I loved last night however I actually have some mixed feelings, I love Nels and I'm a big Deadhead who loves just about everything Phil Lesh, so maybe I had higher expectations, who knows. There were times that it appeared Nels was a little too aggressive, perhaps not really knowing the songs and transitions, he just seemed to go full tilt instead of easing his way into the jams, not so much of a "long strange trip thing" as much as a "and here we are" kind of thing. He certainly got some "what the f--- are you doing looks from John K", however there were times John K seemed to enjoy it too.
  5. I'm not saying they will, I'm just saying they can and I have a bad feeling about this, that's all. Everywhere they list a line up it also states "Artists are subject to change without notice". I'm trying to think of another year where Wilco's only show was at a festival, I can't come up with one off the top of my head, everyday those dates sit alone up there makes me nervous.

Does anyone even know who Ross James is? How about Jordan Levine, he plays percussion and played with Phil last night (as did Ross), there is a percussion set up there so I'm guessing it's just a mater of time.
  7. Just wondering if I'm the only person checking the Wilco/Shows page everyday half expecting the Wilco Lockin' dates to turn into TWEEDY dates? I so hope this doesn't happen, but I really haven't heard much on the Wilco front and there haven't been other "Wilco" dates announced and they kinda stick out like that proverbial sore thumb.
  8. Weird getting weirder, that's what I had on this morning on my way to work.
  9. It's gotta be tough for singers, some of those lyrics were pretty bad, a singer can't really change the lyrics but a guitar player can change what he plays as long as he hits the key riffs and licks.
  10. I'll go so far as to say I've seen Phil and Furthur shows that were better then a lot of Dead shows I've seen.
  11. Now that's just weird, on my way in to work this morning I hadn't heard it in a while so I put on "Down With Wilco"!
  12. I won't get into what DSO actually think of John or how they felt when they lost him, I've worked with a couple guys in the band and their Soundman is a real good friend of mine. I will point out that when Phil was first putting the Q together both Rob and Jeff played three shows with Phil, Phil took Rob but passed on Jeff, he said of Jeff exactly what you are saying about John K. Personally I'd take Jeff over John, but that's just me. I'm not a big fan of John's voice either, and I kinda need to close my eyes and not look at him, but I do enjoy his playing, what's wrong with a guitar play
  13. John K. is a very good guitar player, the 3 Johns lineup is my favorite Phil's Friends since the Q so add Nels to this and I'm pumped!
  14. Just picked up a ticket for the Friday show, Phil used this lineup last summer and it was outta site outta mind amazing, add Nels to that line up and we're talking about 3 hours of pure bliss!
  15. Looks like there's more, and this is one I would have done except I'll be at my folks in Florida that week! 26 Jul 2014 / Freeport, ME / L.L. Bean Flagship store request a song | map | view details Free
  16. I was waiting for shows to be announced closer to the CT area, I can't make Newport, my gut was telling me he would do a show at Mass MoCA kinda like Wilco did in their off year, but I can't wait any longer and I made the Baltimore plunge, I'll miss a couple days of work and drive down, I got my tix and booked my room, I'm good to go! If I read the announcement correctly, all of these shows are with the new band and solo?
  17. Awesome, I love that deep darker color, nice choice!
  18. It's probably just something where the old record company owns exclusive rights for a live release of songs for X amount of time, where X has expired on SBS and prior but not WTA yet.
  19. This has been going on for what seems like a year now, you have got to be the most patient person in the world, I can't wait to hear about it when it comes in.
  20. Isn't the Seattle show the one where someone in the first row is sick and he points out he still has a bunch of shows to do and he won't be happy if he gets sick?
  21. My friends and I always stay at the HoJo's, the owner is pretty cool and he lets us stay up all night partying by the pool in the back, I couldn't recommend the place any more highly.
  22. Hmm, whats the link here, "You and I", "Bull Black Nova", "One Wing", "I'll Fight" and "Solitaire", all left off the latest Jeff Tweedy Roadcase shows.
