  1. I know you are joking but that happens every year, they make shirts for both teams and ship them out. When I went to Houston for the Super Bowl they had shirts for both the Patriots and the Panthers and some where in some third world country they think the Panthers won. Mock them all you want but they did win 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and Tom Brady has 3 rings, not to many teams or Quarterbacks can make that claim. So as to not be off topic, I have seen Uncle Tupelo, and I'd love to see them again sometime, at a Solid Sound would be ideal.
  2. You could do what I did for my now ex on our 15th anniversary, I put our wedding vows to music and recorded the song for her. I used her vows as the verses and mine as the chorus. She was so blown away she bought me the Tweedy Breedlove (months later).
  3. I find it real interesting that people keep track of all that, I guess if I've only seen a band once or twice I might remember. When I first started going to Dead shows I noticed a lot of people kept track, I actually did for a while but when I passed 100 I gave up, I had friends who were doing their 400th and 500th shows and I'd figured I never get there so why bother. At this point I'm so old (and slightly burnt) I have no idea, hell people will be talking about a show I had no recollection going to then point out I was sitting with them or some obscure song was played, then a light bulb l
  4. 1) Newport (maybe) 2) Cooperstown 3) Burlington 4) Mass MoCA 5) Hartford
  5. Neither sounds better, they sound different because I used different microphones and sat in different locations, the first night will have a little more audience chatter because I was up front, night two I sat front row balcony and hung the mics over the wall. You would think night two would sound better however when the crowd gets real loud it peaked out my preamp, this doesn't effect the music though.
  6. I'm sure that has to do with the photographer and not the guitar. It doesn't look that dark in person, and if by "bottom heavy" you mean the size of the lower bout, it also doesn't look like that in person. As to the sound, I wouldn't say "dark" or "bottom heavy", to these ears (and remember I'm a sound engineer) I'd say it's very even sounding, woody and not loud.
  7. Very nice The name is on the Truss Rod Cover, those can easliy be replaced, just remember to save the original.
  8. I've been sick in bed so I don't have a lot of playing time yet, maybe 2 or 3 hours. It's all mahogany and I've never had a hog top guitar before, my initial impressions so far are it's got a more of a woody folksy sound, it's very tight and focused and not as loud as the other. When finger picking (which I'm not so good at) she sounds very warm and each note is very clearly defined. I'm having fun, and I have a feeling I'll spend a lot of time polishing up my finger picking skills.
  9. My Martin 00-DB Jeff Tweedy arrived yesterday, yahoo!!! I guess I need to start saving for the SG now, I was saving before until this came up and my thinking was the SG will be around for a while so better grab the Martin, can't believe I got #10. I call this shot "A Tale Of Two Tweedys"
  10. It came in yesterday!!! I've never had an all Mahogany and I'm really digging it!
  11. Could be a cool name for an album, then you could go on a "Circle Wank Tour" or how about "The Tour For Circle Wank"!
  12. Looks sweet, I'm sure she sounds just as nice!
  13. Nice pic, what is it? Could someone please explain Instagram to me?
  14. WHAT??? I'll give you Touch after '87, but Truckin' no f'in way, to many awesome jams involved Truckin', US Blues was generally an encore and beat the hell out of I Fought the Law. Can't say I hated any songs, and to tell the truth I'd give anything to hear Jerry sing anything even Day Job these days. I was never a "song" person anyway, I preferred the Jams, that's why I'll take a Phil & Friends show anyday over a Ratdog show. Patchouli I could do without out, spinners were annoying, selfish and hypocritical ("you're bumming me out invading my space dude...", well your space happens t
  15. Like Wilco being Dad Rock? Or Dave Matthews or The Band being Jam Bands?
  16. Quick--somebody grab that as their band name! I didn't even know what "pugnacious" meant, I had to look it up, it's my new favorite word, and some would say describes me to a tee. It would be an awesome band name, good call "Pugnacious Dead", I LOVE it!!! I may have to use it with the guys I'm playing with even if we don't actually play any Dead at the moment, we could always could add some.
  17. You would put Veneta on at parties? That's a toughie, while I'm in the camp of that is one of the most amazing events ever, I'm also sane enough to know that is not a show for casual listening. I would describe that show as the perfect soundtrack to a psychedelic experience. This is a show where it was blistering hot and overwhelmingly humid, to top it off they had gotten dosed back stage and by that time they weren't really doing that anymore. Because of the heat and humidity their instruments were constantly going out of tune and they were forced to approach songs in a completely differe
  18. Blashamey. Paul Weller, Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler would not agree with this statement. Nice!!!
  19. As a long time follower of the Dead, a veteran of more shows then I care to count and a taper at most of those, I will state that the Dead could rock, I wouldn't say that was their forte or even when they were at their best, but they did rock. Anyone who says they didn't/couldn't obviously hasn't listened to them all that much and I would say aren't really in a position to comment on what they could or couldn't do. Then again it's really only one's opinion and everyone is entitled to one, doesn't mean they are right, just means in their own opinion.
  20. Did they specify that you won on lottery?
  21. And just about a week between Philly & Newport, NYC & Boston maybe?
  22. Got fix for MASS MoCA, now should I start my tour in Newport, that's a hike to Cooperstown the next day, that's a tough call.
