This version of Tore Up at the 23 minute mark could wake up someone in a coma!

Exactly!

When do you expect new tour to be announced?
worldrecordplayer replied to ripthisjoint908's topic in Just A Fan
Do people think they are recording now? Whatever is going on in the Loft doesn't involve Mikael, who continues to post photos daily from his new home in CA. -
While there's no accounting for what suits each individual's ear, I take issue with the talent of the Buzzcocks sentiment (which I assume to be a dig). Garcia, Lesh, Weir. These guys are incredibly talented, innovative players. If you have the interest to check out the Dead and see what the fuss was all about, it can be daunting to "crack the code", there's so much music there. I imagine it could be daunting. My suggestion, get to know some of the songs. Don't start with entire shows. Listen to Uncle John's, or Sugaree, or Jack Straw, sugar Mag. Big River. Or a rocking '71 Not Fade&

How goes it, Northeasterners?

This morning's view, and still coming down. Thankful we still have power. -

Reporting from Needham. Howling out there. The electrical map shows 100% of Dedham and parts of Needham without power, we are right next door still with power. http://www.boston.com/news/weather/specials/snow_power_outage_map/ Coastal towns are being evacuated. -

Snowing and blowing like crazy here outside Boston. So far still have power. Still a long way to go with this one. -
I did enjoy the Sammy Hagar stuff. The "jet ski salesman." With the bikini dancers.

Fair point, but what I didn't know was that Garlin and Tweedy are pretty close friends. Garlin hangs at his house, talks about being in Tweedy's basement and hanging with his family. So there's definitely a personal history (Garlin's from Chicago), not as much as with Larry David, but a lot more than with Lena Dunham.

hmmm, I'm going to have to give it another listen, because I was disappointed with it the first time. The Larry David and Lena Dunham interviews were outstanding, and after listening to those my expectations for Tweedy were off the charts. But I didn't like a lot of the subject matter (poop stories are not my thing) and for being such good friends I never thought they got in a good groove on any topic. Seemed choppy and all over the place subject wise. I must have wanted to hear more about the songs, the song writing process, live on the road, life in the band, Jeff's general outlook on al

Can't wait to listen to this! His first two with Larry David and Lena Dunham are priceless. This hasn't hit my podcast subscription on my phone yet, but will be checking...

This 1980 SNL performance turned up on Hidden Track yesterday. I had never heard of DeadVids.com, I know I'll be spending some time there this weekend. http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/video-grateful-dead-on-saturday-night-live-1980/

Agree with all those being at the top of Weir's best, except: I could never get into Victim. Ugh. And also, I would include: the entire WRS, and in later days, Let it Grow, and LL>Supplication definitely makes my list. And now that I'm thinking about it, Greatest Story.

Always one of my favorites.

And it's Jen Kirkman (not Kirkland). She's one of the regulars on Chelsea Lately, and a very funny person. @JenKirkman on Twitter.

Also works great on my Windows Phone. Thanks.

The '09 Beacon run was epic.

Terrible. Can't figure why they chose to release it. They should release that epic 12-31-73 Cow Palace show for a representation of this era lineup. Except maybe too widely circulated already.
-
The newest show out this week with Lena Dunham is fantastic. Garlin absolutely loves her. Can't wait until the Tweedy show drops.
-
Have it on now, and my memory is right. That Nassau 5/1/73 show is a terrible recording. Anyone else have it, or just my ears or discs?
-
I was listening to that State Theater show this week. It is what inspired my post about a Tweedy show. I definitely think he could sell the Wilbur. Berklee Performance Center would also be sweet.

In addition to SS'13 and as many Wilco shows as there are for me to see, I would love to see some Tweedy solo shows. In Boston.

File this under completely irrelevant to everyone but me, I was at that Nassau show. I have the disc, my memory is the recording is not all that great. I will have to check it out again.
