  1. Great story. And for that, I'll put Reckoning on my list too, and will dig it out for a listen
  2. I purposefully did not include all the archival releases in my list. I could go on forever if i did. But I would include Steppin Out and Hundred Year Hall (or the full release of that show which I recently got).
  3. Happy Trails is a great release! Haven't listened to it in years, will have to spin it this weekend. But Live Dead is still it for me.
  4. Whoa, I don't know where to even start with this list. Ok, I do know where to start, but I can probably keep on going endlessly. It all starts with the one and only: Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore. The daddy of them all. But would also think of listing this as The Fillmore Concerts for the inclusion of Mountain Jam and One Way Out from Eat A Peach Then, in no particular order: Europe '72 Lou Reed, Rock n Roll Animal (is anything better than Steve Hunter's guitar intro to Sweet Jane?) Live Dead Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense Stones, Ya Ya's Dominoes, Live at the Fillmore NRPS
  5. Los Lobos. Kiko 20th Anniversary show. Been looking forward to this one.
  6. Same with me this Saturday afternoon in Boston. Recently got the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab vinyl version. Sounds awesome!
  7. Last week's episode of Parenthood featured some GD. Ray Romano's character, referring to his high school days said:"I was the cool one, I drove a Honda, I listened to the Dead not disco, and I sold pot out of the back of my car.". Eyes of the World (studio version) playing in the background.
  8. Fall '79 tour. I was at the Cape Cod show, still memorably epic.
  9. Saw them last year at the Paradise in Boston, on my college son's recommendation. Good band, good show, but don't think they (yet) have the song book to hook me as a favorite band. Don't know if they will. Definitely not in the Tweedy/Wilco league. Btw, what time did they come on? Seeing Heartless Bastards at Royale also a 6:00 show, wondering what to figure.
  10. Yeah, I take that back about nothing coming close to Duane and Dickey. Warren and Derek ain't too shabby.
  11. Thanks for that! Certainly a different arrangement than what I'm used to hearing.
  12. Never heard that version. I first knew Dead Flowers as a New Riders song. They killed it. Check out their version on Home Home on the Road, a fantastic live album (not just because I was in the audience) recorded at NYC's Academy of Music (my home away from home during h.s.) and produced by Garcia.
  13. No doubt. Nothing comes close to Duane and Dickey twirling those harmonized lead lines around each other.
  14. I know the topic calls for 10, but it's late and I'm tired, and I thought it incredible that I didn't see Dead Flowers already mentioned!
  15. I was going to ask the same. I don't get it. But if I did get it, I would add Johnny Ramone to the list.
  16. Most recently: The Lee Ranaldo Band, opening for Wilco in Hartford
  17. Bobby Weir Keith Nobody else in their class as rhythm guitarists to my ears
  18. Hmmm, which one, or both? I seem to recall people raving about the VT show at the time.
  19. I haven't closely followed the setlists at end of summer, but they opened with it at MassMoCA, how many shows after that did they not play it? I love the song, but commented at the time I didn't think it was a great opener. I was right u P front, just seemed to me like it's a difficult song to play. But of course I have no idea.
  20. oops, I didn't notice the date in the topic heading. Yes, Duke it is.
