  1. From the Gathering of the Vibes channel on YouTube
  2. We spent almost 2 weeks there in July several years ago. Never set foot in San Jose. When we got there we spent one night in a beautiful asian style villa/hotel outside the city, can't remember the name, then flew down to Manuel Antonio for several days. Then had a driver take us up to the cloud forest, Monteverde. That was fantastic, but don't do the drive on your own. Spent a few days there. I think we did the zip line up there. Then we ended in a rented house just off the beach in Tamarindo. Great trip.
  3. Homicide, Life on the Streets. Actually I'm a little shocked it hasn't already been mentioned (at least I didn't see it). My hands down favorite show of all time. Close seconds: Sopranos, The Wire, Ally McBeal, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, All in the Family, and of course The Munsters My wife and I love Episodes.
  4. Just lost the broadcast. Back. Theologians.
  5. I was a huge Replacements fan in the day. I haven't listened to them at all in years. Until I saw the trailer for CMO. Now revisiting the catalog, the direct line from the Replacements to Wilco is unmistakeable and stunning to me. No wonder I love them both.
  6. That's correct: http://www.nola.com/treme-hbo/index.ssf/2012/09/hbos_treme_renewed_for_a_fourt.html
  7. From a Treme blog at the Times Picayune site: Annie and Marvin Frey talk contract at Stella! as “The Truth of The Blues” by Dr Michael White, “Li’l Duke’s Strut” by Nicholas Payton and “Fatimah” by Irvin Mayfield play in the background. Shannon McNally’s live CD. Wilco’s first album, “A.M.” Frey is tight with the band’s management, and knows that Jeff Tweedy loves to introduce up-and-coming artists that he’s into.
  8. Really, has that been announced? Is this the last season? That would be a shame.
  9. This show crackles with energy. I've got a lot of shows from the TWL tour, but this one jumps right out of the speakers at me. May be the best I've heard.
  10. Yes, that was neat. For those who are familiar with Treme but didn't see this, Annie was meeting with some guy to be her agent. She was telling him that she's going with a different sound, and the agent says she's describing Wilco and A.M. Annie loves Wilco and says A.M. is one of her favorites. Then the agent says "I'm close with their management. Tweedy likes to bring new bands along, I'll speak to them about getting you an opening slot." Or words to that effect. Pretty cool.
  11. Mine came in a couple of days ago. Sounds great. The original Live at Keystone was always among our favorite of all GD related releases. Very glad to have this. One interesting tidbit: the box comes with a poster of the Keystone calendar for the month. Ten days after these 2 classic shows, Jerry was back with Old and In the Way. Amazing to me.
  12. Alabama Shakes tonight at HOB-Boston. Loooking forward to this one.
  13. I agree exactly on the '76 vs. '77 shows. I saw a bunch of shows both years, and the excitement of having the Dead back after what seemed like an interminable hiatus (which looking back was of course only about 18 months) made the '76 shows special at the time. But in retrospect, listening to the recordings, I find the '76 shows a little slow and sterile. While just about every '77 show I've ever heard is off the hook fantastic.
  14. Great story. And for that, I'll put Reckoning on my list too, and will dig it out for a listen
  15. I purposefully did not include all the archival releases in my list. I could go on forever if i did. But I would include Steppin Out and Hundred Year Hall (or the full release of that show which I recently got).
  16. Happy Trails is a great release! Haven't listened to it in years, will have to spin it this weekend. But Live Dead is still it for me.
  17. Whoa, I don't know where to even start with this list. Ok, I do know where to start, but I can probably keep on going endlessly. It all starts with the one and only: Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore. The daddy of them all. But would also think of listing this as The Fillmore Concerts for the inclusion of Mountain Jam and One Way Out from Eat A Peach Then, in no particular order: Europe '72 Lou Reed, Rock n Roll Animal (is anything better than Steve Hunter's guitar intro to Sweet Jane?) Live Dead Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense Stones, Ya Ya's Dominoes, Live at the Fillmore NRPS
  18. Los Lobos. Kiko 20th Anniversary show. Been looking forward to this one.
  19. Same with me this Saturday afternoon in Boston. Recently got the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab vinyl version. Sounds awesome!
