  1. They didn't encore at Hangout either (I think). It's a festival thing, but I am surprised they didn't get a full 90 minute set here.
  2. close out your window and then reload, it worked for me.
  3. Jeff's vocals sound very strange. I'm assuming its a function of the webcast. Or else he must not be feeling too well. Who's better than Glenn?!
  4. Arrow by Heartless Bastards is definitely my favorite of the year so far. I'm sure it would stack up in my top 3-5 in any year. I think it's that good. Someone above mentioned Barr Brothers, but I think that's a 2011 release? I haven't yet heard the Dr. John release, but I hear it's great and I'm looking forward to checking that out. Other than that, I haven't heard of most of the bands listed and mentioned.
  5. Nels sucks? Do people actually say that? What?
  6. About 15 minutes too late. My first exposure to Umphreys after hearing about them for a while, once and done I think.
  7. Surprised they only had 90 minutes. Or their playing an encore set and it's not being webcast.
  8. I keep getting "error" on the live stream screen
  9. I was fortunate to be at the 9-20-90 show, sitting about 13th row dead center. I saw a good number of GD shows going back to '74, and that second set was the the single best set I ever saw live. Or maybe equal to 8-6-74 Roosevelt Stadium second set, but you get my drift. Big chunks of that September '90 MSG run, including most of 9-20 second set, is available as a Road Trips release.
  10. We must have been at different shows Long Long Long Long Way to Go Home? I don't know about that.
  11. You should really give a listen to some Hornsby shows, particularly MSG September '90 or Boston Garden September '91. Hornsby's playing on the baby grand was fantastic (check out the second set of 9-20-90 for example), and Garcia was so obviously in love with having him on stage. I don't know anyone who liked Vince, his playing or his songs. With the exception that he may have been the one to bring Baba O'Reilly and Tomorrow Never Knows into the setlists.
  12. Barr Brothers tonight, Brighton Music Hall.
  13. Thanks for the pointer. The company has a page on the site listing artists who play their guitars, but no sign of Tweedy or Nels there (yet).
  14. Would love to see photos of the new guitars. Head's up to you folks going to the next shows!
  15. Woman Across the River Desdemona Rockin Horse Instrumental Illness more infrequently, Maydelle
  16. Well, I guess they should have just packed it in, and everything I've been listening to for the last xx years was a fraud. But beyond that rather pointless discussion, Hittin the Note came out in 2003, and I happen to think that's an excellent album. And I don't know what you're talking about when you write that they're pulling out Liz Reed now. As if that hasn't always been in the setlists.
  17. Mass MoCA Hartford and a lot of envy of all you folks seeing a lot more shows, especially those Red Rocks shows!
  18. Couldn't disagree more. Gregg may be not in touring health now, but that doesn't discount the many years of great shows with the Warren/Derek version of this band.
  19. The Boston shows are the only "Evening With" shows of the tour, always my preference. Though I am hesitant about this tour given Gregg's health and stage condition.
  20. This list should have been called the author's list of favorite guitar players. That is a different animal than a list of "greatest" guitarists.
  21. JazzFest during the day, included Malone Bros., Allen Touissant, Warren Haynes Band with Doctor John. Tonight, the original Meters at The Howlin Wolf, and then a late night 2:00 a.m. jam session with George Porter Jr., Krasno, Benevento and Johnny V at the HOB Parrish Room. Gotta love NOLA.
