I agree with Shug's post above, but in any event, try Greatest Story Ever Told on for size. And if that doesn't "rock" for you, we have different definitions of "rock." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAEjVR1hsvA

My contribution from Solid Sound 2011. What a great closing set. Levon will be missed far and wide.

me too

No tix received yet for the Hartford show.

This news is very sad. Was looking forward to his set at Jazz Fest. Never made it to a Ramble, but am sure glad got to see him at Solid Sound. The Last Waltz will be playing at my house this weekend.

What a performance. Whoa.

So is this it for summer shows? No more to be announced? As of yesterday, the Shows page on Wilcoworld said "more shows to announce", but I see that is gone as of this morning.

Btw, perhaps my favorite of all the GD books is the Gear book.

Extremely psyched for this one.

Never heard of this venue before. Got center orchestra. Anyone seen a show there?

Vert well said! I recently bought a couple of the MoFi vinyl releases, Wake and Live Dead, and I too have been reminded!
-
That's about what I would have figured. I didn't get it, wonder whether I would ever have made it through all the shows.

There's a pre-sale for museum members going on right now. All I had to do was call and speak to a very nice person in the box office. I joined the museum after they announced they were going to be doing this benefit.

Got Section D, Row J for Hartford, 201 and 202. And...2 for MassMOCA!
-
Just wondering by what date you will have worked your way through all the shows?
-
I think that would be Friday, July 27.

Good show, right off the bat with Playin. Great show/tour opener. Excellent second set. Wish I were going tonight, but instead I will be leading a seder at my home for family and friends.

Further. Wang Center.

Hence, their first single (and still to this day one of my favorite songs), Will the Wolf Survive?

I remember it quite clearly. And it was as mind blowing as you probably imagine. Agree about Hidalgo, and I have Lobos as my answer. Was just having that very discussion today, a few hours ago, in the Lobos topic here. -
Maybe it's just the way they set it up in Lowell. The stage is set at the center field wall, and the soundboard is behind a barrier on the edge of the outfield/infield. So they have the area in between the stage and soundboard gated off for people to cram in, but then they don't allow anyone on the infield or any other part of the field, so everyone else is sitting back in the stands. It felt very disconnected from the show to be in the stands, like you were outside looking in. I don't know how they do it at other ballparks. If they are to do a summer show here in Boston, I sure hope they

Certainly a little presumptuous on my part to complain for them about their career. For all I know, they're perfectly happy playing bars and clubs. I'd just like to see them rockin the house in the Orpheum or Beacon type venues. I don't recall them playing big venues other than as the opener for someone else (they did a bunch of stadium shows opening for the Dead).

Just Another Band from East LA is a 2 disc compilation, with lots of live tracks. I like it a lot. Lobos is one of my favorite bands, and as Louie says, a deep and interesting catalog. The core have been together over 30 years, so they have that family thing going. Plus, they have David Hidalgo. Always one of my musical frustrations that this band never broke bigger than they have, but the plus side is I still get to see them in bars. But they are very much deserving of a wider audience.

I don't know why Wilco (or any other band) likes playing those minor league ballparks so much. From the audience side, I don't like them, at least the way I've seen it in Lowell. They gate off a small area in front of the stage to the soundboard, and either you're standing in there (usually packed to the gills), or you're sitting all the way back in the stands, which feels like being on the outside looking in. Not my favorite venues.

Long time since I had this on the turntable. I'd forgotten how much I like this album.
