  1. I had 2 ballot stuff campaigns going. Marquee Moon. And with a bunch of friends, Tweezer. MM was sort of a no-brainer, I was not surprised they did it (especially after having then recently read that Tweedy had taken guitar lessons from Lloyd). Tweezer was a long shot, but I'd still be chuckling today if they did that. There were quite a bunch of folks requesting Tweezer. That first SS was special, for being the first and a step into the unknown, and for being so small and intimate. The Tweedy show on Sunday was a perfect way to close it out.
  2. Perhaps my "best" SS memory, probably because it's recorded and I get to re-live it. The 2013 All Request show. After having SS in 2010 and 2011, with a hiatus in 2012, I had no idea what to expect for the all-request show, but when they hit the stage and launched into "The Boys Are Back in Town, I cracked up laughing out loud. There could not have been a better first song for the all request show. The boys were indeed back in town. I still break out into a big smile every time I listen. Always makes me happy to hear that.
  3. Yes! And Yes! That Real Estate courtyard set to the video projections was mesmerizing. The Levon Helm Sunday afternoon set was a highlight of all the SS's. I have a nice shot of Levon and Glenn playing together. I cherish that photo. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. The freight train rumbling by in the middle of Wilco's set. I think that happened twice? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. That St. Paul 2-17-73 HCS is probably my favorite version of them all. The movement into China Cat is one of the best pure seamless transition jams. I remember bringing this to a friend's birthday party about 20 years ago (all Deadheads in attendance) and heads were snapping right and left when this played. https://archive.org/details/gd1973-02-17.sbd.ashley-field.32875.sbeok.flac16
  6. Garcia is so damn ALIVE on this. On a plane listening again. Must be the 4th time I've listened since I got it. I could also mention how great the TLEO is, not the slow crawl of a song it could be. "Fucking stellar" is right about the recording.
  7. Wow, we were all so young once. As my buddy Bob always says, "Lobos is a goddamned national treasure." I love those guys. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. An impossible task. But if I have to name just 1, would go with Garcia. BTW Mr. Legthigh, I love your Hidalgo pick!
  9. Yeah, that JGB album, recorded spring of 1990, has always been a favorite. Love that version of Waiting for a Miracle. The Keystone releases, especially the first, have always been my favorite Garcia project release. We were devouring Live at the Keystone in real time in our high school youth. Those kind of emotional evocative attachments don't break. As to this current version of R&C, I also noticed right away that it's not as rockin as other versions. But then I got hit by the groove, they just lock in right at the beginning and play it with this funky groove, sounds great to me.
  10. Yup: Rochester Hills, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Indy, Rockford, Milwaukee. Presale 3/29. Onsale 3/31. https://twitter.com/Wilco/status/846378856521093120
  11. Well, everyone has their own set of ears. I've listened to this several times and I'm loving it. Fall '91 was a great Garcia period (maybe the last?), and I find him to be in fine form, guitar and vocals, on this show. The Reuben and Cherise is pure gold-a total groove song from beginning to end. I've been recommending this to all my GD inclined friends.
  12. My god, this new Garcia Live is fantastic! A great show from a great period, and it sounds awesome. I think this could be my favorite of all the Garcia releases. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I'm always surprised by how well attended the comedy show is. I don't know why I'm surprised, as my wife spends the entire Saturday at the comedy stage, but I'm always shocked that it's so well attended at a music festival. I agree, I don't see any other venue for the comedy, I don't think it's suited for outdoors (especially with music going on in the courtyards), nor do i think it works to have it standing only inside the Hunter.
  14. Love the selection of the "alternate" tunes: On and On and On, She's A Jar, Always in Love, Cat, Monday (!) Did they get Glenn to stand on his drums?
  15. Same here Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Inside in the Hunter Center. And it usually fills up.
  17. Comedy lineup announced. Don't know everyone, but Eugene Mirman and Nick Offerman should be good. http://us3.campaign-archive1.com/?u=4a616680c4505859bbc832df7&id=790c9888ab&e=cfb6d16b03
  18. With Gowdy being one of the worst. Do some fact checking on him, I believe he's the one who leaked the name of a CIA officer during the Benghazi hearings. Now he's whining about Ryan being "unmasked" while Russia has likely infiltrated the White House. Beyond pathetic.
  19. FIrst 2 nights at the Beacon were both excellent. Saturday was a total Nels show, on fire from the get go. Maybe a little more fire from Nels and the band on Saturday, but both shows quite excellent. If I had to pick one top moment (which I would resist having to do!), it would probably be BBN on Saturday. I've heard recordings of this version, but this was my first live performance of this format of the tune, and it is spine tingling.
  20. He wore the black version both Beacon nights Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. That's pretty much perfectly stated from my perspective. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Nice show, Good set list with the "variables" that got played tonight. I had a great seat, again the sound and visuals, stage and theater, are all compelling. If anything I thought not quite as intense as Saturday, which was an off the hook Nels show, but basked in its warm dark glow nonetheless. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. The Beacon emails say to expect 30 minutes to get in thru security. I don't know what it was like at the main entrance on Broadway, with paper tix you can enter the back on Lex, we walked right in, no line there.
  24. Didn't prevent the Allmans from selling their Instant Live recordings Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
