Thanks for the encouragement. I just saw the show is sold out, so lots of folks want to see them. I got tix mostly because my kids and all their friends (whose musical tastes I respect) really like them, and they turned my wife on. The only release I have is Depression Cherry, which is just so-so in my view. My son tells me they released another album right after that which is much better, I should check that out today.

Beach House (not really sure why I'm going, but I'm going)

Cool, I'm interested to hear what the show is like. Did you see them in their time?

Seeing the Allman Brothers topic light up certainly got my attention. I've had this show for a while. (I thought it was a WLIR show). It's a good one, and I'll gladly purchase the official release on April Fool's Day (assuming this is all not some prank )

Looking forward to it. I haven't taken the drive to Providence for a show in many years. This venue looks very nice, almost too nice?

I was at that Hunter Center show. I was right up front so my sightlines were good, but the sound wasn't very. Went to Hartford the next night and saw them in one of the best sounding rooms I've been in, was quite the juxtaposition. Never too early to think about the next SS.

I looked at your albums from last night Tim, great shots (again). And that one of Pino, geez, he should run for Prez in the GOP (if you know what I mean

Thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry and encouraged me to go to the show. I scored a floor ticket yesterday morning and had a great time finally seeing the Who. I have no previous Who tours to compare it to, but I thoroughly enjoyed the greatest hits setlist and finally getting to see Townsend play electric guitar. Adding to my night was getting together pre-show with Mr. Tinnitus Photography for some beers and dinner and 90 minutes of talking about music. Excellent night for me all around.

Speaking of '71, although I didn't dig it out this weekend, one of my favorites is Fillmore East 4-28-71. I've been listening to that Dark Star>St. Stephen>NFA>GDTRFB>NFA segment with TC since about '75, and it stills sends chills down my spine how good it is.

That's an even better score!

I scored a floor seat this morning from Ticketbastard , 6th row of Section D on the center aisle. Face value. I saw that lodge ticket for $125 on Stub Hub, but I thought it was being sold as a pair, so I grabbed the floor seat. I thought about holding out for a ticket drop later today but I couldn't spend all day looking for tickets Let me know where you end up. I want to see Tal, so I'll be inside by 7:30.

My 1971 throwback weekend continues with a spin through Three From the Vault, Portchester 2-19-71. I think it was Garcia who called this band the "shoot em up cowboy bar band", or something like that. Hits the mark. This was a couple of years before I caught on, but this was a good deal of the GD music we listened to at the time. The band really swings.

me neither. I'd like to get a decent lodge seat but not at hundreds of $$

I'm going to keep looking for a single, will only go if I get a good seat.

For several weeks I've been wanting to find some time to listen to some '71 Dead. Got my chance today, pulled out the Houseboat Tapes, Dick's Pick 35. Had a great time listening to most of disc 4, excerpts from teh 8/6/71 Hollywood Palladium show. Something about this era of the 5 piece band just crackles with energy, each member shines. And having Pig singing of course adds that great element. Note the Weather Report intro lick played by Bobby during the return to The Other One. I'll be sure to be listening to the 3 other discs over the weekend.

I prefer the uptempo Row Jimmy's of the '73 era. Same with TLEO.

Boy, being in high school on LI not far from NYC in early-mid '70's, Hot Tuna was our #1 band. Even more so than the Dead. Still see Jorma and Jack anytime I can. It's been a lifelong relationship. I actually had tears in my eyes watching their acoustic set at Lockn' last year. I was right up front and could see a whole bunch of musicians standing on the side of the stage watching their entire set. Dave Schools actually took out his phone and was videoing Jack during his bass solo. Anyhow, after catching up on Thirty Seconds, for some classic Hot Tuna, check out any (really all) of the

Of those, I suggest you give Thirty Seconds Over Winterland a spin. If not just for the Jorman/Hot Tuna songs, Feel So Good and Trial By Fire.

I saw a lot of shows from '79-81, and from '87 until his death. I'm not talking about his playing or his vocals (although both really bummed me out when he first joined, but I grew to appreciate over time). I'm strictly speaking about his songs (and not his covers). To this day, there's not a one I want to hear.

Anyone seen the Who recently? They're playing Boston on Monday, tickets are expensive, and I just can't decide if I will be enthralled or depressed.
