  1. Do you remember which Crossroads? I went to the last one at MSG in '13. I think you're probably referring to the preceding version in Chicago, the year the Allmans cancelled and Susan and Derek did a set. Anyone see any reviews of last night's show at the Apollo? They were premiering the new album. I read they were very psyched to be playing the Apollo.
  2. Having been at the State Theater last night, I'm totally with you on this. It was a perfect blend of open floor GA for those who want that, and then seats starting at the board, which start above the floor and gradually rise to the rear. Or I should say, to the number of bars in the rear. State is not much of a nice theater, the ceiling is very plain and flat. The Orpheum could be gorgeous again, like the Beacon. Getting rid of those seats, which defy current human size (were folks really that small when they built the place?) would be a huge step in the right direction.
  3. TTB has a YouTube channel where they post official videos. Just in case you weren't aware.
  4. The Orpheum ownership needs to do a renovation like the Beacon. Which is now beautiful. The Orpheum is such a pit. They put no $$ into that building, such a shame. A little clip of You Satellite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-iCnL4GW6s
  5. 2 quick things to add: Great to meet gods8apedhole, who had given me perfect info about the State and where to be if I couldn't stand all night. So nice to be able to say hi and chat. And her daughter too. After the show, I shared an elevator ride with Glenn and a couple other fans. The nicest guy, just what you would expect him to be.
  6. Well, my first Wilco show since Solid Sound, and my first show at the State. Well worth the trip from Boston. Never having been in that theater, my expectations were for a really nice restored theater with excellent sound. That is not the State. The sound was a little muddy, my friend and I were noticing that all night. And there were so many freakin talkers right in front of us. We also were annoyed, like Jeff. But just like Jeff said, the spirit was there and Wilco delivered the goods. I had an outstanding time. Seeing SW for the first time was better than I expected. Just love see
  7. Inside the State Theater for first time. Love the layout, with GA for first Hal of floor and then seats and bars all over the place. As opposed to the last 2 shows, I don't expect any lack of crowd energy tonight. Wilco will rock this place.
  8. Go for it! I'm heading north. Not that that's the reason you should go for it. What's better than road tripping for a Wilco show? OK, maybe Wilco in our backyard at the Orpheum. But still...
  9. Also got my notice, looking forward to getting this. I was recently reminded of the awesome audio quality of the GD HDD releases. Not that I haven't always known that, but last weekend a like minded friend was over. He had not had chance to really check out the new (used) speakers I recently got. I popped in one of the discs from the May '77 box, disc 3 of the first show, Scarlet>Fire to be exact. The audio quality is jaw dropping. I play all my discs through the same rig, but the sound on these GD HDD discs are of another world. He and I both would swear the band was playing in my r
  10. I've seen Lobos many times throughout their career. They never disappoint. One of my favorite bands. Always amazes me that a band that good with a song catalog that strong has really never been able to break out of the bar/club circuit. But I guess to my benefit, as I get to see them in small venues with a bunch of real fans.
  11. Even apart from the playing of Star Wars, that setlist is very close to being identical to Pittsburgh. Set times for last night anybody? William Tyler at 8:00 and Wilco on at 9:00? Tonight is also an 8:00 start, so just wondering.
  12. Wilco Gives me great pleasure to type that
  13. Thanks for the info. I thought it would be open floor back to the soundboard, and then chairs behind. I guess not.
  14. Here's the review from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Who the heck is Ken Stirrat? Other than that, nice review. "This was the first time in five years that we’ve seen this “Ghost is Born” lineup (and never in a place as nice as the Benedum) and while it was solid when it assembled in 2004, now it’s a stunning, fine-tuned engine that still accommodates for the scruffiness and vulnerability of its frontman. Wilco, never big on visuals, added a dazzling backdrop of beaded lights that moved and pulsed to the music."
  15. They didn't do Star Wars at Solid Sound last year. Which made it such a surprise when it dropped on 7/17, having just spent 3 days with Wilco and not having heard a note or a whisper of a new album.
  16. I tried getting Agganis tix the moment they went on sale, couldn't ever get through. My only way is StubHub, I've been looking but waiting to see if prices come down, probably wait until day of the show.
  17. I'm a fan, as is my wife (she's probably a bigger fan). Going to try to see the Boston show, don't have tickets yet. I've seen them several times, but not for many years. First time I saw them must have been 1980 or very early '80's, in a tiny club in Boston (actually Allston/Brighton) called the Underground. Boys Don't Cry was out, which I see was released in the US in August '80. Probably only a couple hundred people tops in the Underground that night.
  18. I don't know, the thing about the too fancy venues is that the sound is usually magnificent. I'm always chasing the venues with excellent sound. So if the choice is excellent sound and sitting and bopping in my seat or standing/dancing in a less the excellent sounding room, I'll take the excellent sound. But I get why folks don't want to sit. I'm going to have to decide at the state Theater GA show on Wednesday whether I'm going to stand all night up front or go for a seat. Standing for an hour pre-show, then through the opener, then the break, then through all of Wilco sounds like a lot
  19. I don't know what questions 3 and 4 are, but to answer my question and likely # 3 or 4, photo on Instagram shows them playing acoustic hootenanny for an encore set. I also can't wait for Wednesday in Portland. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Tweet from Pittsburgh show says they did all of Star Wars tonight
  21. Tweet from Pittsburgh says they did all of Star Wars tonight
  22. The other question to be revealed tonight is will they still be doing an acoustic hootenanny encore set? I hope so. Where you sitting each night? I'm left orch row RR (last row of the front section) on Friday, Mezz L Orchestra Row C for Saturday. Or do you have press/photo passes?
  23. I too am on the Derek bus. His playing with Warren in the Allmans was always special, seeing those 2 share the stage and feeding off each other always made for guitar fireworks. And TTB is a whole 'nother thing: a big band sound meshing blues, rock, soul and R & B. A fantastic band, with great spirit emanating from the stage. And Susan's vocals, which I consider to be the best blues singing since Janis. I never pass on a chance to see them. Next time for me will be at JazzFest.
  24. I am seeing three shows this week, so I would also prefer they don't do Star Wars in its entirety to open each show. With 2 nights at the Orpheum, I would be surprised if they do. We'll find out tonight how they will be handling the set list. Mikael posted a photo on Instagram saying they were rehearsing Magnetized. But that doesn't mean they will do all of Star Wars. We will know soon enough.
