Nothing would surprise me, but that would surprise me. I chalk it up to age and the difficulty in facing the inevitable. I assume they have now come to terms with the inevitable. Time will tell I guess.

Gregg lives in Florida, I believe. And I think Oteil lives in CT, at least he used to. I was holding tickets for the Tuesday cancelled shows, now rescheduled to my birthday. I won't make it down again the following week for one of the "final" final shows, so that will be it for me. Lockn' first in September and then October 21 at the Beacon. Been seeing them pretty much regularly since 1973, with the exception of a couple years break after the Zak Wylde fiasco at Great Woods, I will miss seeing the Allman Brothers Band, no matter what else Derek, Warren and Gregg will be doing.

Jambase write up of the 2 Phil shows with Nels. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/121804/Audio-Nels-Cline-Guests-With-Phil-Lesh-and-Friends

Jambase write up of both nights and download link. Checking out last nights first set now. I think this band is killer. I'm mote than fine with JK, don't really get all the vitriol directed at him, but to each their own I guess. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/121804/Audio-Nels-Cline-Guests-With-Phil-Lesh-and-Friends

Hoping for some Nels and Phil interplay at Lockn'
-
Totally missed it. Love the Sinclair
-
How was the show? Where did they play?
-
Also agree, those 2 voices work really well together.

Watching the webcast of tonight's Phil and Friends show with Nels. Fantastic second set. Russo totally rules.
-
I will say this, Joe Russo is an awesome drummer
-
Been watching the second set tonight. Nels all the way through. I think this is great. Doing Help > Slip right now.
-
That thought never occurred to me. Heaven forbid. I had bought my tickets and booked my trip before Wilco was even announced, but I would be hugely disappointed if this morphed into something other than Wilco playing 2 days at Lockn.

Got home too late to do the webcast. Listened to the end of Box on the ustream. Did Nels play in the first set?
-
Wtf is up with Exene?? I've been a fan forever, but this is so out of whack. Another instance where its best not to know too much about your musical hero's politics, but I can't separate the 2.

I'm planning on doing the webcast tomorrow, I will report back. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

I agree. As much of a Jerry fan as I am, and as much as he meant to the entire GD gestalt, the bottom line for me is the songbook. I love the songs and the music. There's absolutely no reason these songs should die with Jerry. I don't get that at all. I'm really happy to go out and hear a night of well played GD music. I saw Warren and the Boston Pops last week, fantastic. Furthur and Phil and Friends qualify as well played GD music for me. I also don't get the JK bashing, but to each their own. I think his playing and singing fits right in with the GD music. I'd rather hear him sing J

Can't say I've seen any, but I suspect it will be more dependent on the particular venue. Given the extent of technical upgrades invested in the Cap, I suspect these will be quite good. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

A day late with this, but I saw Dave Mason's Traffic Jam last night. Fun show, great collection of songs, and his guitar playing is still fantastic.

Best Albums of 2014 (so far)
worldrecordplayer replied to bleedorange's topic in Someone Else's Song
Agree, I love this album. I don't think it takes a back seat to anything in their catalogue. And those 2 songs are my highlights as well, particularly Primer Coat, which could be the single best new song I've heard all year. Thee lyrics and that story get me in the gut, and then that guitar hook on top of those lyrics. Exactly what good rock n roll is supposed to do. They played both when I saw them in Boston. -
Looking forward to that webcast.

A free show at LL Bean? I'll be on vacation with the family, two summers ago I left vacation to catch Wilco at MassMoCA and Hartford, but I think I'll have to miss this one. Too bad. Wonder how many people they will let in for this?
