  1. Allman Bros - "Blue Sky" SUNY, Stony Brook - 9/19/71
  2. I'm not a professional or anything, but including "I'm a total ass." as an option in a poll might be seen as biasing the respondents towards a desired answer.
  3. It wouldn't, really. Sorry, I was watching Dazed & Confused last night and I guess I was just having a Wooderson moment there. See, this is why the album needs to leak. We can't possibly keep up this level of incoherent banter until May.
  4. It'd be a lot cooler if it did.
  5. Oh, so what you meant to say is "all the songs q23 tried to learn how to play in high school to impress chicks suck". I can get behind that argument moreso than the original one, tho I still think the issue with these songs has a lot to do with overexposure.
  6. Regarding iPods in the car, definitely hard-wire if you can. I never considered myself an audiophile until I started messing with FM transmitters. I first had an XtremeMac AirPlay, which emitted a constant high-pitch squeal (imagine a tiny dentist's drill playing in the background of all your favorite songs ). The iTrip was somewhat better--no squeal--but was noticeably lo-fi and sometimes hard to keep a signal. My solution to the problem was somewhat expensive: buy a new car. On a side note, you guys are scaring the crap out of me with your talk of the deadly 2 year mark for iPods. My
  7. I don't think we should be talking about this.
  8. Yeah, I gave up on this idea a while ago. There was a point in my Wilco-fandom that I was really longing for the raw, more punkish approach of the early Tupelo days......and the album that followed was "Summerteeth".
  9. Might be for the best. For as much as I'm always saying I wish they would "rock out" a bit more, the "big dumb rockers" tend to be my least favorites on each album.
  10. If you eat a bad tomato, do all tomatoes necessarily suck?
  11. We need to devise some sort of bat-signal for when this leaks. Lately my routine is to check Oink before I leave for work in the morning and at least once an hour from when I get home until I go to bed. The "addict needing a fix" analogy seems apt. As for this being their "mellow" record, I guess it depends in what sense you mean that. I think AGIB is largely a very mellow record. Its full of tension in some parts, but the sound itself--I mean, to get more mellow than Hell Is Chrome you'd have to be asleep. (not a criticism--that's actually my favorite song on the record)
  12. Is this the same bird who laid the egg from which the ghost was born?
  13. Definitely a great starting point, but I'd double-check any info I take from there, particularly before publishing it! Wiki is a fabulous and fascinating idea and there is a ton of great info out there, but yeah, there's always the bufoons, jokers, and drunkards factor to consider.
  14. Lame. I already have a homemade DIY outfit like that that I've been wearing for years.
  15. I'm too lazy to look it up, but what do these kind of packages cost per year?(didn't see that in the article) Not sure I can see myself shelling out big bucks to watch the O's lose 80+ games, but ya never know. Its a moot point if its only available on DirectTV, tho. Also, now that XM and Sirius are merging, I'd imagine the games will become available to Sirius subscribers sometime in the future, but probably not this year.
  16. Is there a hidden track with a guest-spot by Michael Bolton? Because that would be cock. Side note: Hope there is a cool t-shirt deal with the pre-order on this one again. I wore my Ramones-esque Wilco shirt to a show I went to a couple weeks ago and got some compliments on it, particularly from the cute girl at the beer cart. If I were ten years younger and less married, that would have been awesome! Damn you, Wilco, for not bringing the Wilco/Ramones shirt into my life years ago.
  17. A-man, this is one of the best things I've seen posed on this board in a long time. I've been giving this some thought lately, too, and I too have been trying not to not spend my energy, as you put it, running down bands I don't like or defending those I do that get run down by others. Ultimately, the appreciation of music is such a personal thing and so subjective, that arguments about who is good/sucky, while fun, are pretty meaningless. I'm old enough now to admit to myself that my music collection itself probably never won me many friends or got me laid (nor is it likely to, since my w
  18. I just got back from a Wilco show on their upcoming tour and I need to tell you that the setlists still suck. Incidentally, I don't totally disbelieve the possibility that people have heard this album, but seeing as the vast majority of us have not, there's not much to talk about unless somebody wants to dish some details.
  19. Will the live draft provide ample time for bathroom breaks between picks or should I just keep a bucket nearby?
  20. Congrats! We have a baby girl due mid-April. We should set up an e-play-date!
  21. No, they're literally going to drop it. I hear Nels is clumsy like that. Fortunately they have a rubber floor like that stupid beer commercial.
  22. I wonder if this collection of songs on disk feels more like a nebulous assortment of sound waves in the atmosphere.
